Albany DE Jared Verse (transfer - FSU commit)

No one said anyone needs to be on the hot seat. I would argue the worst thing about ANY fanbase are name-callers who have no tolerance for difference of opinion. Even if the on-field results have been glaring for the better part of 2 decades. One could argue we lost the MCB due to NO DL PLAY. I like Josh Heupel. He needs players and losing battles like this doesn’t help.

But signing West and Phillips does. We’re gonna miss on some recruits. Everyone does. Statements like “Heupel must do better” in the face of the work he’s done are absurd. Again, he signed a top 15 class in year 1. No one expected that, just like no one expected 7 wins.

You understand he matched what Nick Saban did in his first year at Alabama while taking over a MUCH worse situation?

I understand all of those things. We’ll see what happens.

We will be ok, patience, we will get a D Lineman soon, next wave, shift our thoughts to a positive direction.
Also give the staff time to develop the players, staff got a good dose of SEC knowledge year one, year 2 will be much improved

Wish we got him but not the end of the world. He is untested against P5 OL and he chose a much less physical conference to play in where his chance of success is higher.

Despite what many think, FL is a pretty awesome place to live when you are young. Tons of beautiful women and beaches are close to Tally. I know there are good looking co-eds everywhere but if you haven't been on FSU's campus then you might not realize how how elite the "talent" is there. It's considered top 5 in the country.

If all other things were equal then the weaker competition and FL lifestyle could have been his deciding factors. I expected this was the decision when Baron left the portal.

We can be upset & pissed off that we missed but if we are being realistic FSU has a really solid dline coach as well
He is a solid coach, but I watch FSU a lot. My brother in law is a Noles fan. I’m not sure if it is lack of want to, talent, or whatever from players, but they do not look like a well coached football team and it was Year two for them this year. Their best rusher was developed by UGA.

I said about a week or so ago I didn’t have a good feeling about this one and got roasted on here. People telling me he was for sure coming here if you could take things from his interviews and such. It just felt like most of the battles we have had in the past couple years with d linemen picking between us and auburn. Kid acts really high us just to pick the other team and make it really public to run our faces in it. Didn’t really like this guy for some reason and now he is just another kid that picked FSU. Maybe it’s my orange colored glasses but I sure as hell would not pick FSU over the Vols right now if I’m in his shoes. Total head scratcher. I sure hope we have a backup plan in the portal.

Nah. Garner should’ve won this one. He ate our lunch while at Auburn.

So maybe it's a UT problem. We haven't been very good for a long time, our defense wasn't very good this year, we still have a black NCAA cloud hanging over us and that is somewhat hamstringing our NIL efforts.

And sometimes kids just like other places better. We still have opportunities to get DL help from the portal and I like our edge class a lot so far. I wouldn't be surprised if one of those kids contributes early and BY and Roman could develop more.

I remember Oklahoma back 4 or 6 years ago having a 5'11" or smaller DE that was so fast getting to the QB, we need speed all over the defense, Pruitt should have been moving us towards more size and more speed, glad he is gone, we have few speed guys on Defense

It's a damn good thing that we have 13 early enrollees. We need young talent developed and ready to play meaningful snaps this season.

They might struggle some this year but will develop quicker because of it. I think one or two will surprise and provide high level contributions early which will help wit future HS recruiting. Having freshmen contribute isn't ideal but can be a boon to future recruiting if you get a reputation for getting kids on the field early.

I think an immediate impact LB and a couple of DB is more important. Our pass rush could certainly have been better but the DL was solid...the other 2 levels were where we were lacking. I feel good about Banks, Hadden, Slaughter and that's about it. We need Turnage to be able to take Burrell's spot and others to take over the safety spots.

Having FAMU in Tallahassee also has always been a huge draw for getting these recruits. Basically you have 2 huge college campuses within minutes of each other, and the party scene is insane. And one of them is an HBCU. The amount of talent around campus is always huge for these 17-20ish year old men, and Tallahassee has a lot of eye candy.
