ALCS Yankees vs Rangers

Have done both. Would take the bleeder.

I allowed my fair share of both. As long as the bomb was a solo job I'd still take it. Solo homers are rally killers.

Cool move by the Rangers to break out the Canadian Mist for Hamilton. There is an overwhelming influx of Ranger "fans" that are sprouting up all around my area. I think its great for Nolan Ryan and the entire organization, but I wont be trading my Yankee cap for a "T". If they were facing Boston I might consider it, but Im not willing to jump on a bandwagon that has historically came off the axles.

I'm man enough to say it.
I'll call myself out.

This is no longer true.

I will support whoever the representative is from the American League.

I'll agree and I'll add something else that makes this tougher to swallow. They flat out dropped their heads after Burnett gave that one up to Molina. Figuratively and literally, and frankly, that's not the Yankee baseball mentality I grew up with. Thats not making any of this any easier.

Like a guy who called into Cowherd show this morning said, "Whats the incentive for them tonight if they're trailing by 3 or 4 late in the game? Do you think they really want to prolong the inevitable and catch a flight to Arlington?" - paraphrased, but you get the point.

Meh, he went on to make some points about the crowd not being "real fans" but rather corporate suits that are not very enthuisiastic. He mentioned how the stars, especially the "originals" as I call em' are getting a little long in the tooth. Jeter is struggling, A-Rod is under performing, and how they may have a case of "Welp, we did it last year, and we're comfortable with that enough not to have a sense of urgency".

I mean, I kinda agree with a lot of that, and you and I have already agreed that Burnett is a liability. Hell, CC might get knocked around and he may fold up. They had to win that one last night. Had to. Then when it got blown open, like I said, it got real ugly and did nothing more than further fuel Texas's confidence. When you're dropping bombs on "The Bombers" and there is not chance of them reciprocating, its a big sway. Call it emotion. Call is desire. Call inspired baseball. Texas is riding on the same high that Paul O'neil, Bernie, Chuck, Jeter, Girardi, Brosius, and the rest of the old guard had when this thing got kicked off in the early 90's.

To make a play on words using a Book/Movie title: "We Were Winners Once, and Young"

There is only 3 of them left, and the Boss's family has done a great job trying to buy that magic and bring it back. Their appetite was filled last year. They have found themselves facing a remake of that youthful Marlins team that locked down the strike zone, and hung around at the plate long enough to catch lightning in a bottle.

CC will dominate today.

I'm just not so sure about Hughes. But this series can easily get to Game 7.

Hamilton is good for at least one per night. He's proven that. They'll have to hit or they'll be booking flights to the Caymans or Playa Del in morning.

anyone see a line-up for today's game yet? I'm guessing Puma (even though his ABs from the right side have been horrible) at first with Thames at DH?

Im kinda gun shy about running Berkman out there as a starter. I'd rather leave him to DH and put some youth on the feild.

Of course, he could go out and be the 2005 version of himself and completely disprove any preconceived notions I have about him at this point in his career.

yea, but that means Swish at first and Thames in right. I don't care for Thames in the field either.

Well none of em are swinging it well right now, so I guess I'd pick the least liability and hope for the best. How would you set em up?

I'm ok with Berkman at first. would rather have Swish's glove in the outfield than first base.

Well and Swish has been here before. Is this Thames first playoff run, or am I mistaken?

I think he was with the Tigers a few years ago when they made their run. Not sure though.

  1. Jeter SS
  2. Swisher RF
  3. Cano 2B
  4. Rodriguez 3B
  5. Thames DH
  6. Berkman 1B
  7. Posada C
  8. Granderson CF
  9. Gardner LF
about what I figured, with the exception of Cano in the 3 hole. that makes a lot of sense though. your best hitter is usually in that position....

Even with a lefty, I think you still have to have Granderson 2nd. Swish has been awful, just awful in the playoffs.

would like to see someone try to lay down a bunt one of these games. Christ! couldn't believe no one tried against Lee when he was so dominant. We've seen that Swish can't do it, so Grandy would be nice to have there at number 2, assuming he is capable.
