Alex Poythress

There follows a direct quote from your post:

"An undergraduate degree doesn't mean anything now a days if you give two ****s about academics..."

Don't wanna argue, just don't agree with that statement. As much as I love UT athletics, the opportunities, academic and otherwise, which accompany a BS from a school like Vanderbilt > the opportunities which accompany the same degree from a school like UT.

The rest of that sentence that you quoted expressed how I was mostly talking about schools within the SEC. Anyhow, You can disagree all you want. You are still wrong. A BS from Vandy doesn't afford you any more opportunities. I could go into a deeper explanation, but since you don't want to argue, I'll leave it at that.

Poythress has stated that he wants to go to UK. His parents are UK fans and they want him to go to UK. Cal has his sights on Bazz Muhammed, but if Muhammed is the UCLA lock everyone thinks he is, then Cal will turn his attention to Poythress.

Stokes is still a Tiger I think.

Alex and his parents are in Lexington this weekend for an unofficial visit. The more video I see of this kid the more I like him. Reminds me of a right-handed Terrence Jones.

I am surprised that you haven't heard about our great facilities that will bring in recruits. Four months ago this board was covered with stories about them and any coach being able to bring in 5*'s. I notice their leader has disappeared now that the damage is done from the pictures he sent.

Not like VQ just announced we are right back in it with Jarnell Stokes and have a very good chance.

Ignorant.

On ESPN Insider:

UPDATE: Alex Poythress (Clarksville, Tenn./Northeast) has scheduled his fifth and final official visit -- to Duke -- for Oct. 29, according to Bob Redman of FightinGators.com. While Duke is thought to be one of the leaders among Poythress' five finalists, one has to wonder if the athletic forward will indeed take all five of his visits. Being fifth on the visit list gives four other schools a crack at Poythress before the Blue Devils.

Prior to his visit to Durham, N.C., he will head to Vanderbilt on Sept. 10, Florida on the Oct. 1, Kentucky on Oct. 15 and Memphis on Oct. 22.

---

Last week we wrote that Duke and Vanderbilt could be in the best shape for prized 2012 swingman Alex Poythress (Clarksville, Tenn./Northeast), but that he was still determined to take official visits to each of his five finalists.

On Monday, we learned more about his upcoming visit schedule care of Evan Daniels of Scout.com. According to Daniels, Poythress is set to visit Vanderbilt on Sept. 10, then Florida on Oct. 1 before heading to Kentucky for midnight madness and to Memphis on Oct. 22.

His visit to Duke has not yet been scheduled ... but don't discount the Blue Devils just yet. Poythress spoke to Scout's Evan Daniels and confirmed he will visit the Durham campus but hasn't set a date yet.

Word around TBK and KSR is we have Alex in the bag. Or at least with the guys we are getting in that class it seems very logical he would come. Hearing good things and knowing he will be in a position for a ton of playing time makes it look very good for UK.

If that's true, tells me he's dirty.

You do realize you root for a team currently on probation and mounting trouble in both major D1 sports, right? You do realize your basketball team currently employed a coach who

A- Broke NUMEROUS NCAA rules.
B- Lied to the NCAA about the rules infractions
C- told his players to lie
D- told recruits parents to lie
E- told his assistance to lie .....

Football in UT has been just as dirty if not more so than the team in your name. Orange Pride and other infractions are STILL being investigated at UT to this day.

But you seem to want to call other teams and players dirty? Seriously?

Must be a liberal because your logic is terribly flawed.

I didn't come here to flame, but I'm not going to just sit back and listen to that crap either.

How is someone currently (present tense) employed if they were terminated 5 months ago? Your post is so flawed, it really deserves no response. Tennessee is not currently under any type of investigation. Nor is Tennessee anywhere near the level of NCAA sanctions that Alabama was in the early 2000's. Thirdly, if you want to turn a blind eye to Cal's recruiting tactics by deflecting the matter back to UT's current plight to make yourself feel warm and fuzzy, feel free, but you and I both know that Tennessee committed secondary violations that were further compounded by the dishonesty of the coaches. Without the lies, those violations were nothing.

I bookmarked this page - When Cal ups and leaves and KY is hammered, again, it will be bumped. Hopefully Meeks54 will be around!

Not here to flame - but the intelligent posters on this site are fully aware of the issues at Tennessee. Intelligent people in general are fully aware that Kentucky has a rich tradition in cheating. Why else would they hire the greasiest snake oil salesman on the market, who is currently employed, unlike the former UT BBall coach you mentioned as being employed.

Pretty much a sure fire way to lose an argument. Assume someone is a liberal/conservative because of one post in a basketball forum. You're doing the state of Kentucky proud, son. Real proud.

Any chance we could get another sub-forum where fans of other teams could discuss who they are getting and why? It would go nicely with the Bruce Pearl sub-forum.
