Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

The last time I had the flu was about 15 years ago, a year in which I had a flu shot. (and it was a horrible bout) I have not had a flu shot since, and I have not had the flu since. Maybe a coincidence....but I'm going to ride it out.
Not even surprising. I might bail on next years for science, of course.

I think the flu shot is a scam. To back this up somewhat, I’ll refer to the flu mist nasal spray. They took it off the market for 2 or 3 years and just put it back on the market this year. The reason it was taken off is because it was discovered the manufacturers had manipulated their data. People in the medical industry always tell me that the vaccine results can’t be manipulated because they are used in double-blind studies by third parties, but low and behold it happened anyway. That should be raising all sorts of red flags.

Anytime you give something away it cheapens it's value. Give college degrees away, the college degree means nothing. Why is our healthcare the best in the world? Because it isn't free.

The chance at being rich is what drives people to invent, discover, to take risk. Take that away and we fail to achieve all that can be achieved as a society. The only way socialism works is at the end of the barrel of a gun. Anyone that champions what this ignorant AOC is pushing, is an advocate for communism.

There is a serious battle going on in the DNC at the moment. Nancy and the old guard are going to have to confront the upstarts like AOC more quickly than they imagined. I'd tend to think Nancy and the other bigwigs in the DNC treated AOC much like they did Trump in 2015 and 2016. Chuckled at his mannerisms and rhetoric behind closed doors, but got all kinds of shocked when he got elected.

I'd tend to think AOC gave them the same kind of chuckles in the beginning. She was "cute" to them when she won the primary, but now that she's become the media darling and they fawn over every word she says, they have to deal with her. Hence, the snarky comments made by Pelosi yesterday about the Green New Deal announcement. And the snarky comments made by AOC in regards to the old guard of the DNC having to "get out of the way" for the new generation.

There is a battle for the soul of the Democratic Party going on right now behind the scenes. When your "top" Presidential candidates for 2020 are already lining up behind that idiotic Green New Deal and praising it for its merits, you know there is a problem. Such a thing could rupture the entire DNC before 2020 if they don't get a handle on it.

Much the same as Trump ruptured the republican party I guess. The Trump fiasco may very well expedite what it intended to slow.

The same thing happened when the TEA Party came on the scene in the GOP. The main difference was, the TEA Party wasn't quite as insane as to think the government was the solution to all the problems. Quite the opposite actually.

Regardless, Pelosi, Schumer and the other DNC leaders are likely going to meeting real soon as to whether to deal with her now in her political "infancy" or get on the boat. Say what you want about Pelosi, she is a shrewd political operator and I'd tend to think when it comes to a civil war in the DNC, she'd be the one coming out on top.

Literally lived in a family that has went from middle class to poverty to working class and that's largely where I am personally.

Now, let's look at the fact that I have EARNED a bachelor's (close to my Masters) with no debt in a rather hard field of study. Didn't have my parents pay a penny, got no help from the government either. 100% merit scholarship and work.

Honestly, when most people politically minded hear my story they think that I'm a conservative because of my story. I am oh too happy to explain why that assumption couldn't be more wrong.
So you are like Faukahontas then. Educated, but unintelligent.

Oh, and your family has gone Professor. "Has went" makes you sound like a hick. And you are educated. Supposedly

This is the Obama Legacy.

Here's the thing about Obama and socialism...

After the serious backlash and failure of the ACA, specifically losing Congress, he really didn't seem in a hurry to push any more of a socialist agenda afterwards. Oh sure, he made campaign rhetoric from time to time, but for the most part, he didn't bring anything even remotely like this for consideration. He was, in short, a lame duck President after the election in 2010. He did what he could through the EO process and small things behind the scenes, but he really didn't push a socialist agenda after the Democrats got their ass handed to them in 2010.

Overall, we like to claim he was a socialist in hiding. I tend to think of him as being more pragmatic by not pushing that kind of agenda ahead since he knew it would only hurt him in 2012.

I have had the flu shot every year since 1988 and have been flu free until a couple years ago when I didn't get the shot. Not going to forget again.

Great post. I've been saying for a week she's going to get blackballed.

72, I am sorry for your experiences. Our system has flaws, no doubt about that. There are good doctors out there but they are mostly in the pediatric sector (they get played less yet need more training). You'll enjoy this coincidence... since becoming a parent, I've gotten the flu shot every year.. you know what else I've gotten? The flu. The ten+ years before that no shot, no flu. 🤷🏻‍♂️
I've never had a flu shot, and haven't had the flu or even had a cold in several years.

A doctor that I used to play golf with occasionally once told me that the longer that he practiced, the more he came to believe that there were only 2 drugs that worked...………….. aspirin and penicillin.

Same, I'm 41, haven't been sick or even had a cold since I was in high school. No shots, no doctor visits, nothing. Only thing was had to (if I could have stitched it I would have) go the ER for about 40 stitches in my hand from...........breaking a crab leg.......the Dr. never stopped laughing the entire time, couldn't believe the clean and long cut it gave.
