Well, we are "deplorables" after all. Once you just accept the title, I guess it's easy to proudly play the part. At least we don't have to dress up in drag and parade to show our pride. Come to think of it, I haven't seen our types burning the place down or curling up an a fetal ball in a safe space when feelings get hurt, and I can't recall our types trying to block someone else's right to free speech.

Look, the woman is dangerous. Not because of her completely kooky ideas, but because of the fact the leading Democratic Presidential hopefuls are tripping over themselves to support that lunacy. And the media, which should be tripping over themselves to be objective and fact check the sh!t out of the Green Dream and blow it wide open, are fawning over every word she said like she was Moses coming down with the 10 Commandments.

Crazy and dumb, conservatives can live with that since we've dealt with Maxine Waters and Sheila Jackson-Lee for years and chuckled at their nonsense. However, when a party and the media starts blindly following such open stupidity without hesitation and without regard to what it will do to our economy, we have to stop and ask ourselves WTF is wrong with people.

I just read an article about the apartment that AOC is renting in D.C., and it also talked about the apartment she has lived in (bought by her father) since 2011 with "her partner." Is she a lesbian, or is partner not the same as significant other? Just wondering.

All of their decision-making at that point is made with an eye to 2020. When you run for President, you have to prove your bonafides first. You start out pretty far to the left (or the right if a Republican) and gradually moderate as the primary season goes on. Remember during the 2012 Republican primary, Rick Perry called Social Security a Ponzi scheme. Donald called for a "total shutdown of Muslims entering the United States" during the Republican primary for the 2016 election. Those were very conservative positions made using very conservative rhetoric. They each ultimately moderated those positions. The Dems are doing the same thing with this Green New Deal. You have to win your party first before you can win the general election, and you have to have solid bonafides in order to win the party. You can't be wishy-washy, or perceived as being wishy-washy,

AOC and her posse are currently drawing a lot of attention and their proposals are popular, so in order to win over the base you need to at least espouse support for their ideas. I wouldn't read too much into it.

I don't think they are as popular when looked into than you believe. However, AOC is just dumb enough to think this could work.

I'll give Nancy Pelosi credit where credit is due. She treated this proposal like a child coming home with a finger painting from Kindergarten. "Oh sweetie! That's so nice! Let's put that on the fridge so everyone can see!"

The idea of it is trendy and popular, especially among Democrats. As a presidential candidate on the Democratic side, it currently is dangerous politically to not endorse it at this point because the people in your party who are fired up about the 2020 election are hardcore progressives. Just like it was dangerous politically to not espouse support for Donald's Muslim ban during the primary season last time. I don't think any Republican in the field, or even Donald himself, actually supported that or thought it was feasible. However, given how Donald was sucking all the oxygen out of the room, it was dangerous at the time to critique it, which no Republicans really did.

Someone like Pelosi can afford to do it, 1) because she's at no risk of not being re-elected and 2) she knows the Dem-controlled House will be judged on stuff they are actually able to pass and she'd rather turn the conversation to ideas that are actually feasible.

Certain portions are probably very trendy and popular. But as an overall bill, I'd dare say you are not going to see the support you believe on it. Booker, Warren, Harris, et al are not going to give it more than a token "great idea!" when it comes down to the sheer will for an up or down vote. They aren't that stupid.

What is going to happen is that the left will drive the centrist voters in their party to the Republicans or an Independent like Bernie. They will have big problems if that come true.

Remember how the TEA Party was the most vocal part of the GOP for a while. Where are they now?

I could be wrong and it'll be a shock when I see the (R) behind Pelosi's name.
