All Beck related discussions from last night (merged)

This is all I have to say about Jordan's middle finger salute last night. Did I like him doing it? No. Like it or not, it happened. It is what it is. Given context, it happened during heightened emotions in the game. It's getting this much attention due to the polarizing nature of this team and the national spotlight.

Our guys are going to do what they do. People are going to react to them one way or another. This is nothing new.

I'm moving on and focusing on Notre Dame, other exciting games, and enjoying our team in what little time we have left to watch them play together.
Well-said.

If this is your rebuttal, be honest and recognize that all of these are game-winning hits (in the playoffs too).

For God’s sake, no more posts about Beck’s celebration.

No fan in attendance saw it live.
Only a replay saw it.
I, myself showed my finger to the tv screen with the hit.

Let’s quit making obscene mountains out of petty mole hills. GaTech guys- if they saw it, would not have been offended.

My video where I thought CTV made same gesture night before war no more or less offensive.

Let it go Karen

Bad news, bud. A lot of message board warriors live for pearl clutching.

I hate Alabama. I hate Florida. I hate Geogia. Too many reasons to list here. Throat slashes, dirty chop blocks; etc.

I don't like it. I do understand the intense emotion and losing self-control in the moment, but I wish it wouldn't have happened. If the Vols are eliminated, the entire college baseball world will throw an online celebration/roast in the honor of the team.

That will happen either way. This team's fire is what drives and feeds them. I say embrace the villain role and ride it all the way to a ship.

We could save a cat out of a burning tree and everyone would try to say that we put the cat in the tree to begin with. I don’t care what other people think of Tennessee. Once people understand that nobody cares about Tennessee except for the people involved with it then it makes life a lot less stressful.

While I agree we get sh1t on at every possible turn, I think the middle finger was a bit excessive. The biggest problem I have with it is the fact that many young kids see that. Our guys are role models whether they want to be or not. They are in the spotlight, I don't think Beck is bad kid. He made a bad decision in this instance imo. It happens and life goes on but it is a teaching moment. I like the fire this team plays with, they make the game exciting and fun for everyone who watches them on tv or in the stands. Bat flips, fur coats and fur lace shoes ok. It's fun. Espn will likely make story out of this, they can get bent after what they did to ER. But yeah I can see TV or DW telling Beck to dial that back a little bit. Anyway Go Vols. Today is a new day

The longest of long-plays.

Personally, I love all of it. Mash an 800 foot homerun? Flip the bat right in your opponents face. Let the Madison Bumbgarners of the world bitch and moan about it like crybabies.

Most kids know exactly what that means, I can assure you.

Associating showing class with “caring about winning“ is just wrong. You can show class in many different ways and still care about winning. I think emotions get the best of most of us at times and we say or do things we normally wouldn’t.

I agree it wasn’t necessary and was excessive and kids don’t need to see it but I wonder how many saw it live; at least at the game. Can’t say what it looked like on TV but I was there just past 1st and didn’t know anything about it until after the game. Most are watching the ball and then eyes go to the plate/other base runners.
