yes you must be going crazy because we are talking about rumors... if anyone is off topic it is you...
:eek:k:

Based on the OP, this is not a thread about just any old rumors, it is about commitment rumors. That is why it is in the recruiting forum. Last time I checked, BB's recruitment was history.

+1000! And with Brown having limited carry's.

Wow, ok lets think this through. The reason his ypc are equivalent to Hardesty is solely because he had limited carries.... It's like pointing to Nu'keese Richardson's 9.7 ypc as evidence that he was clearly the best running option last year...

And as for the rumor about Kiffin promising Brown's dad a job, blah blah blah. I find it very hard to believe that Brown would openly divulge that information to a guy simply because they were sharing a stop watch together.

Of course, if nothing comes of them, I may switch to....

Would I like BB to stay? Of course. However, I think that train has left the station. I just wonder if there could be any NCAA recruiting violations Kiffen could have laid on us by BB's recruitment? I think this matter was looked into by the NCAA some time ago, but nothing seemed to come from it. If the job offer is true, I applaud Dooley's answer that he doesn't do business that way. Don't know if BB is still enrolled and in summer session or what. I just wish there would be an announcement, and we can be done with all of this.

Well, what I meant was that he had a lot of total yards for limited carry's. Sorry I put it that way.

Hardesty never had enough pain where he had to miss games last year. Bryce did.

Hardesty played through a significant knee injury last year. Maybe it has to do with their respective thresholds for pain? Maybe it has to do with MH's urgency as a Sr to play every down he could? Maybe it was just that MH was needed more.

I appreciate your info here and seldom disagree enough with you to post a contradictory reply... but it is my strong opinion that many over play Brown's performance last year.
ummm... Bryce had a higher YPC average than Hardesty in 6 of the 12 games he played in:
WKU
MH 8.89 ypc, BB 9.45 ypc, Poole 12.40 ypc... I'm not sure performance against an 0-12 team proves much.

BB 3 carries, 4.67 ypc. MH 21 carries, 4.29 ypc.

2.67 vs 3.18
Hardesty avg'd over 5 ypc on over 20 carries. BB broke one 37 yd run and otherwise avg'd less than 3 ypc.
Another terrible team that proves nothing.
BB had 25 of his 34 yds in the 4th qtr after the game was out of hand. Ole Miss was playing prevent to keep JC from getting them back into it and playing subs.

Not bad for a true freshman against a 5th year senior who was a 2nd round draft pick.
.

Not bad? Correct. Great? No.

BB has incredible athletic ability but RB skills are not well developed. That's why he looked so much better against lesser competition.

Go back and watch his carries. Brown ran the ball very hard. Just because he didn't have a Lewisesque freshman season people hate.

All I've said is that he lacks the polish to make his talent work against the better competition... no hate. I think he has a promising future and hope we see him in orange this fall.

Bryce Brown gets so much undeserving hate on here it's ridiculous.

Vol spin iyam.

He is going to be a SPECIAL RB somewhere.

no doubt. I think the issue at hand is debating whether or not he was a special RB last year. You have to admit, for all the hate (which for the most part is the result of him possibly leaving our beloved vols) he also got a ridiculous amount of unwarranted love early on...

Because Brown broke a long run against USCjr and raised his YPC average - you throw that out? Lol - doesn't make sense. You act like it was some fluke or something.

yeah i mean you cant pull a bret farve in college. your team will turn on you in a heartbeat. im surprized there have been people saying they would take him back with open arms..

with that said i hope he stays. but if he is-he needs to say it now. this is rediculous.

but if we have to recruit him every year to stay here then just get the hell out, this is a team, not about one or 2 players..

Maybe he could throw out a couple of those runs where his offensive line blew the blocking assignment or just got run over and he was stuffed at the line?

I mean, all's fair.

I didn't say he wasn't talented. You talked about how his injury was "so serious he missed some games". I don't buy it, just from judging the persona Bryce gives off, he was not wanting to risk anything serious with the starting job basically guaranteed to him this coming year no matter what had the last staff been here.
