If we make the tourney this year, will that be good enough for you? What will your opinion of Cuonzo be then? Will you be able to look past his "shortcomings" in the '10 - '11 season, or will he always be tainted to you because he missed the tourney in a rebuilding year? Seriously asking.

All I have judged and will judge the coach on is his body of work.

Rainbow Crowd Logic - "let's expect to finish 11th and suck so when we make the NIT and get bounced at home by MTSU we can call it a great season. That Coach Martin is allsome!"

I expect UT to make the tourney in the watered down field every year. We are UT, not South Carolina as someone referenced.

I make no excuses for expecting to win. Although some of you are very good at making excuses for expecting to lose.

This is like expecting Dooley to win 10 games in 2010. Short sighted, illogical, ignoring the facets of the team, etc.

It's called realistic expectations my friend, and if yours where NCAA last year that's not realistic. Tennessee had the longest streak of NCAA appearances in the SEC, what does that mean? That all schools, even UK, have trouble making the NCAA every single year, so expecting CCM to keep that streak, with the hand he was dealt us unrealistic at best.

We all wanted and hoped that we'd make the big dance, but nobody in their right mind should've expected it.

Answer the question...

If he makes the dance this year, should we still can him, or get behind him?

Making the tournament is a minimum expectation. Obviously he will not be fired if he makes it, but it will depend on the body of work to determine if he can coach big boy hoops or not.

I hope you are available for the hire if he doesn't win a championship this year so we can fire him and get the best of the best.

So what does he need to do next year to get you behind him and for you to feel confident in CCM as our coach?

Is it going to work with Austin?

I believe it will.

Austin, if you and your family happen to read this site, please become a Vol. I went there, I played for the Vols(different sport, but made it to the SEC championship in '83) and I had the greatest time of my life. It will be the same for you, on a much larger scale. Your presence WILL fill Thompson Boling arena and you WILL be blown away by the support. You will become the recipient of dogged workouts and practices all aimed at taking your game to the next level. You WILL become a star and be treated like one on campus and with the fanbase - not coach. Your presence, along with Stokes will be FORMIDABLE! NO ONE will look forward to playing the Vols. You WILL change the program and bring us into the national spotlight every time you play.

So come.

We should get behind him all the way. If a 2nd place finish in the SEC in his first year when we weren't supposed to be close to competing yet was not good enough for people, nothing will be.

If we wind up with AN, what do you think our class ends up ranked as?

Not Z, but it would likely move us up to around 5th immediately...however, it likely would probably finish around 8-10 or so if we didn't sign anyone else.

Thanks! that was my guess but I don't follow enough to feel like I knew for sure!

How many times have we had a top ten class say the last 10 or so years?

1 or maybe 2 times at most.

The best class in history was Pearls 2006 class, atleast on paper, it definitely didn't pan out though.

This class if Nichols is added, would have more star talent in it...meaning top 15-20 guys that the 06 class didn't....but the 06 class had the depth, 5 top 100 guys, this class would only have 2.

Probably top 15 overall, conservatively. We also will probably add a 5th guy in the Spring, most likely a JUCO post player.
