I had a similar situation one time. I told them I was going to close my account and would like to withdraw all of my money. My buddy who was with me laughed and said he doubted they had enough to cover it. The teller basically laughed at him, until she pulled up the account. Then she looked at me and said theyād have to write me a check![]()
I had an Amsouth account before it switched to Regions. The old branch that I opened the account at 20 years ago still calls me, I assume because they bother people with high balances. One day I answered the phone thinking it could be my mom, the girl asked if I was interested in a savings account āfor my kids college fund or retirementā. Whatās it pay? āUh today, itās at a quarter of a percentā. Iāll take my chances in the stock market thanks.couldn't agree more...
One of the funniest things I've seen in a branch happened 10 years ago. I'd recently sold a townhome to an all cash buyer, he'd wired $500k into my checking account. I was in getting some crisp $100s for xmas. When the teller pulled up my account and saw the $500k+ balance she got this very blank look on her face. She got composed, went to get the crisp 100s and came back with this young branch manager that wanted to know if he could help me with my financial planning. I laughed and just said, "I'm fine thanks"
Their balance sheet is still nice, so they should be fine to weather storm. But, blockbusters are going to have to come back before theater stocks are moving up again.
Yea pushing Bond back is a killer for a lot of them. As soon as they announced that, the UK announced closing theaters. Thatās a big money makerTheir balance sheet is still nice, so they should be fine to weather storm. But, blockbusters are going to have to come back before theater stocks are moving up again.
I only go to a theater if itās something I really want to see. The last few years, I canāt remember seeing anything. I know I saw Skyfall and Spectre, Fabulous Beasts or something with the wife a few years ago. Maybe like 5 years actually. I attempted to take my 2 year old to a Dragon movie a year or so ago. I enjoy going, but movies seem to be on a bit of a dry spell lately.Their B/S is OK. If we are still in this spot this time next year, then viability becomes a concern.
Longer term, does streaming kill the movie theater industry?

Big screen is so much better. Quality of movies has gone down. Seems like it's a bunch of comic book character movies.
Theaters are partly to blame to. Most good movies only make it to one theater in town, and not at all in smaller towns.
Iāve been saying they should release No Time To Die on a streaming platform, charge us $30 to watch it, and call it a day. But thereās obviously an issue they have with that, because it seems too obvious. The theaters make their $$$ off of kids movies and these "comic book" movies. Disney is beginning the process of releasing new releases on Disney +. Do they start to do the same thing with Pixar, Marvel, and Lucasfilm movies as well? Does Universal/Fox, etc follow?
Yep, you are entirely right. It's all about $.The theaters make their $$$ off of kids movies and these "comic book" movies. Disney is beginning the process of releasing new releases on Disney +. Do they start to do the same thing with Pixar, Marvel, and Lucasfilm movies as well? Does Universal/Fox, etc follow?
Iām a fed as well and never try to time the market. Why donāt you just stay appropriately diversified? Have you had success timing in the past. I have never done anything big in my TSP other than rebalance.Kind of like a government 401k. G fund is just government bonds. Probably the safest bet until the market settles down post election and then Iāll buy back into their C and S large and small cap funds. What do you all think?
