All things STOCKS

AMZN. Time to accumulate if it continues to drop. I think so.

I’m shopping for a handful of safe equities. Other than the 80x plus PE, AMZN is looking like a strong candidate. Maybe the big banks as well. Possibly the QQQs. Maybe FedEx/UPS if fuel costs look like it will be manageable. JNJ. BRK. BX. INTC. WHR.

Ha, JNJ is my largest holding, UPS and BX in top 5. Also own BRK.
Own WFC, looking at more.
UPS keeps going up and keeps raising their dividend. Things might have changed, but at the time I bought about 10 years ago UPS was better managed than Fedx imo. I'm sure others will say just the opposite.

I swear, this week is a complete crap shoot. No idea what's about to happen. I'm holding my TSLA put but I may buy 1 or 2 SPY. calls as a hedge.

Would AVGO also fit into that group, by chance? I'm holding a bit of INTC but recently started getting interested in Broadcom.

Curious. I keep hearing the CNBC talking heads draw a distinction between a trade and an investment, and of course they mean how long you hold an equity position. But where is the line? 30 days? A reporting cycle for a dividend paying stock?

It's a convenient distinction to make but needs to be defined IMO.

You've already given one consideration. Perhaps the definition is not the same for all stocks.
I don't think it is a specfic amount of time, but your expectation. Are you looking at a stock you expect to increase or decrease(short) in the near future. You anticipate "Trading" that stock.
Do you think the stock has long term potential, increase in price, increase dividend, etc? You are willing to "invest" and hold it not expecting to trade for a short term profit.

Some people say their business model is antiquated. Things change.

As far as the retail side of their business model goes, I see FedEx, UPS, USPS package delivery, and Amazon trucks constantly making deliveries on my street. It’s not at all unusual to see more than one of them at the same time. E-commerce is far from having maximum penetration.

AWS is the fast growing part of their business model. What they are really good at is building out their company vertically and horizontally. They are constructing two warehouse/distribution centers in/near Knoxville right now.

They have a huge advantage with the retail side by having very little cost of carrying an inventory of the stuff they sell.

Whole Foods has a ton of potential. They seem to go back and forth with healthcare/pharma. Prime is kind of like incorporating CostCo’s business model into their business. CostCo basically breaks even on what they sell and the membership fees are their profits. Prime has the rights to air Thursday Night Football live.

I don’t see them slowing down. They don’t seem at all stagnant IMO. They try new things all the time and either ramp them up or cut their losses quickly if it’s not working.

The current valuation is about what AWS is worth alone. So the rest is basically free added value for share buyers.

Well it was 395 on 11/30 when it ran to what, 409 and I missed out on $145,000? 🥴

Still sad.

Don't blame you!! That was a big fish.

If you want to gamble, we could be set up for that exact same scenario.

My feeling is that most of the market is dreading the numbers of today and tomorrow. So you might find a deal....then is J-Pow happens to announce a 50 bump and has some positive words, it could again make that mega-run on Wed afternoon.

I think that is a 20-1 long shot, but I have a poor track record of guessing along with J-Pow.

I dunno about AMZN guys. Chart sure makes it look like it's going lower.

I'm on record. Read the Unchained Bezos book from last spring. As mega-crazy as it sounds, I think Amazon is already on a forever down march.

Unless, Bezos returns full-time and can relight his passion.

With more money than he can ever spend, hot chick, age,....don't know why he would want to work himself into grave. Unless, for pride
