All things STOCKS

He has allowed himself to get positioned into the middle of a pissing fight.

Perhaps he can wiggle out, but too hot for me to touch in either direction.

What time is Powell tomorrow? For now, the fear index is low.

I don't think he's really in the middle. I think of him as Howard Hughes if Howard Hughes grew up under Apartheid. Howard Hughes was never in the "middle" of a fight. Never. And, as Mike Leach said, God rest his soul, "There are no neutral countries in a pine cone war."

Powell is at 2 pm, I think. If I am reading it right. Seems like last time he started taking questions at 2:30.

TN has mentioned taxing EVs since they pay no road tax. Those who drive gas cars pay $.26/gallon.
This is incorrect.

EVs now pay $100/year.
Lee wants to increase to $300/year. Would be the highest in the country.
It appears that is about 20,000-25,000 miles per year equivalent to a gas vehicle.

That’s not a good idea. Somebody driving 20,000 miles a year going to pay the same as somebody driving 2,000 miles a year?

Governments need to start figuring out how to manage without taxing EVERY aspect of people’s lives.

Well, blah blah blah, but road taxes are okay. They need to keep the roads in good shape. That is a key element of our way of life which is necessary and proper.

Ha, I bought a Mazda CX 5 in March, and still has less than 2500 miles on it.

TSLA will be in some near term trouble if they lose the Left wanting to allow tax credits as part of the trillion dollar green push.

This is a great point I had not considered. To get rid of the electric vehicle intitiative, however, would have to apply to all companies, not just TSLA. That's bridge too far for D's.

A piece of general sales and income taxes make more sense than continuing to rely on the gas taxes and proposed EV taxes. Taxes on tires, batteries, and repairs are more equitable, but it would be too easy for free lance mechanics to duck the taxman on repairs.

Just about every kind of commerce uses roads. So taking upkeep out of general sales and income taxes seems logical. But just focus on shrinking all of the bloated dang governments.

Pretty stupid governance going on with EVs. Give away huge tax credits at the federal level for new EV buyers while charging EV owners an annual fee to keep them registered at the state level. How about not giving the tax credits and using that to fix the roads?

That's probably about right.

HOWEVER.....

I never claim to know the future. I'm not saying there's a floor to it. Normally I would, but I think there is a level of leftist rage where the stock price could reflect people's current opinions of Musk. I'm not predicting that. I'm predicting that in the past, everybody ignored the fundamentals of the company itself, and so I'm open to that continuing.

Here is an example of what I mentioned...I think it just hurts TSLA. Has nothing to do with Telsa, put seemingly provoking large groups of people. He is funny, but smarmy

In a mere five words, Elon Musk, emerging darling of right-wing extremism and CEO of Twitter, managed to contain two hallmarks of the fascistic state when he tweeted Sunday: “My pronouns are Prosecute/Fauci.”

Fearless prediction warriors...wut do we think happens here today?

I'm staying away from TSLA. But, if forced at gunpoint, I would have to short it. Elon getting lit up twice per week. Bad look for face of Telsa and getting worse. Trying to referee words...needs to hire a judge for that duty.

Plus, I saw $2.67 gas yesterday afternoon. Not that TSLA owners probably care about that.

There seems like way too many bears to me.......I'd bet calls.

Yeah....the pace is slowing. But, it could be the same trampoline effect that we saw the on the afternoon of the last J Pow talk.

But, probably too many bears, waiting,,,fingers twitching on pre-loaded short clicks.

The last one pretty much blew my mind. So yeah, I'm thinking a half percent and the market is going to pop big for one night. Then lose it all tomorrow, maybe.
