All things STOCKS

Elon still selling TSLA. 22 million shares this week. $3.6 billion.

How low will it go?

Today’s adage (?): don’t try to catch a falling knife

Elon may have meet with Waterloo diving into the middle of refereeing U.S. Politics.

If I was a TSLA stock holder, I would be pissed at the lad.

I still say it.
"Pigs get fat, Hogs get slaughtered" dumb saying
Well, I thought it applied beautifully to Allan's situation, after Jax prognosticated what Allan would do.

So it certainly appears to me that he in fact got slaughtered. He may tell us otherwise.

If that appeared like a random comment diverting the thread into discussing "old saying" then I apologize.

Oh, yeah...I get it now.

It is a variation of the rich man's key to success, "I always sell too soon."

I am extremely guilty of that myself. It is difficult to sell into strength. I've kinda settled into a routine of selling a good payday on the uprise 25% at a time.

But, difficult to not be greedy.

For those searching for a scalp, I predict Adobe will miss on earnings this afternoon. PC sales were down in July - September. Not exactly aligned, but ADBE is tied to that metric.

No hardware...no need to more copies of the software.

Old saying: let the winners run - cut your losses quickly

A better approach might be to sell half of assets that have doubled and then it’s all house money going forward.

I'll bit on 1-2 contracts.

Remember that my real money is tied up in mutual funds that aren't touched for years at a time. Think I last looked at those in February.

On here, I'm only talking entertainment small dollars. Helps brain.

You guys see this as an all-day plunge, or an hour drop? We going down.

The retail data this morning is not what I was expecting. How can it slow from October? I don;t think it ever slows from October to November.

I avoided mentioning this before, because I don't really know anything about it, but it seems like it's growing legs. when this came up, I thought that since acrobat reader is a freebie, I don't know that they actually get paid for adobe enabling on a new computer (which I know is considerable software). Maybe they do, but I would not have assumed that. I am an example of an actual paying acrobat user. My old version won't work, somehow somebody managed to upgrade something that crashes it; I have to have a SAS version with a monthly fee. Don't have any choice. Only individuals doing creative work pay that.

Right here is some of their 3rd quarter report:

So you can see how enormous is the subscription fraction of their revenue. New computers could affect trial subscriptions if somebody is actually paying that. I would kinda think you have to throw that in free, but I don't work for Adobe. The direct effect of new computer sales on their business is exactly the kind of thing they'd address over and over in their earnings call.

It is a comment that applies perfectly to trading stocks, and is often used

Your comment was very pertinent to the thread. I replied to your post where you only used half of the saying, "hogs get slaughtered". I thought I might enlighten someone who was not familiar with the entire saying. If you or someone else had used the full saying in another post I missed it(not uncommon).

I seldom keep up with other peoples trades or prognostications even though I might makes a few myself. I'm certain I can find trades where I've lost a significant amount of money. Not a lot of money, but most recently NVAX. They keep coming out with promising news that never develops.

FWIW, the way I interpret the saying is: pigs are immature swine so they do grow and "get fat". Hogs are grown pigs so they "get slaughtered".

MSFT missed this quarter. I can't see how ADBE could have killed it. All of government loaded up with new pc's in 2020 and 2021 to support telework.

Good luck!

Just bought a MSFT 250 call for 1/8.

This does seem like a good time to buy something. Question is what.

i would tread lightly.

Long term or short term?

For long term..

Pick your favorite defense stock. One of few things the blue and red agree on...in 2023, we gonna bomb the crap out of russians in Ukraine. And, we are going to defend incoming whatever.

Hopefully not. My understanding is the Ruskies have about 6000 of those. We have a similar #.

If you are talking nuclear, I wasn't referring to those.

I'm just saying that if Ukraine and Russia continue the fight that we have seen over the last ten months, we need to mass-produce more of our older systems that we have sold to NATO. Here is an article on what Russia is doing. It somewhat forces us to respond with the same action.

Some of the countries in Europe / Middle East made a few items. But, USA is still the leader in mass production of systems that provide incoming missile air defense, and stop soviet era tanks and helicopters.

Anyone in the Fidelity Crypto right now? New product line for them range has been between $11-25 in the first year, back to now to a low of $11.

I was just added to their list this morning. I doubt that I’ll fund an account. I trade MicroStrategy options for crypto exposure. MSTR has a huge premium because of the volatility. 1%, 2%, or more for near term, way out of the money contracts has been the normal valuations for several months.
