All year long we heard about the importance of SOS

They're 8-3 man. They've lost to 2 unranked teams, which is more unranked teams than Nick Saban lost to in 15 years. This ain't vintage Bama and you know it. You can lie to me, don't lie to yourself.
But the fact is Texas didn't play the sorry ass Alabama team, they played the sorry ass A&M team.

If we had to play one tomorrow for the NC which had you rather us play?

There are several schools in the mix with 1 loss. Most have had rinkydink schedules and really have played no one. When they do play someone, they get beat (sometimes badly). Now all I hear is "they only lost one game". It sounds like the same old same old.

Also, tell me this. Tennessee and Texas. More than likely they will also have 2 losses. How is it that they are a lock and we have one foot out and the other on a bar of soap? Georgia went to their home field and stomped a mudhole in them. It wasn't even close. We played them hard in Athens and if a few breaks had gone our way.... So how are they automatic and we are not? Isn't our SOS higher than theirs'?

The more things change, the more they stay the same.
So this board has become scared of Vandy and being blocked out by a 10-2 Texas now?!?!?! My goodness folks. Quit being babies! 10-2 Tennessee will be in the playoffs. 10-2 Texas will be in the playoffs if and only if Georgia wins the SEC in Atlanta.

In the event A&M wins the SEC, you'd have 10-3 A&M, 10-3 Georgia, 10-2 Tennessee in the playoff from the SEC. 10-2 Texas would be on the first team out or maybe, just maybe, the the final spot at best.

We have the exact same SEC opponents on our schedule Texas does, except we played 8-3 Bama at home, and they are traveling to 8-3 A&M. That's the only conference opponent that's different. Out of conference they played Michigan and we played NC State. 3 cupcakes a piece.

Also, beat Vandy and we are in. It's as simple as that, without worrying about Texas.
Yep. The schedules are as close as it gets. We can’t slam their schedule without also slamming ours.

I don't GAF about vintage Bama.

The problem is this notion that there's such a thing as a "complete," "unflawed" team.

In this era of NIL, any team can lose every week.

"Vintage" as a CFB concept might be gone. It's not the same.
Well, I'm not the one trying to play the Bama brand here like it's some sort of trump card. They are nothing special this year, which should make us all happy.

They keep changing their expectations and standards (if they even had any at all). I seriously think those dweebs or cowards or whatever you want to call them are so heavily influenced by media and social media that they can’t even tell which way is up anymore. It’s literally a jury deliberation and it should be hung everytime no pun intended based on who likes what the most.

And the very most proof and case of my point is the mighty itty bitty alabama dollar general brand detergent tide. They are 8-3 and still right there ready to jump Tennessee if what they want happens, happens. Hell Bama could be 7-5 and still #14 in the cfp.
It rhymes with restarted.

I know fans like to see them and it starts the bragging early on. But I think preseason polls and the regulars season polls shouldn’t come out until mid season. That way a preseason number 1 can maintain that ranking especially if they have a weak schedule and when a loss happens the fall isn’t so far.
Pre Season rankings sells clicks!

Well, I don't know what you are going on about then, because this all started when someone said "but we played Bama" and I said they weren't chit this year, and everybody got upset.
I mean with all the threads discussing these scenarios, I don't get why the OP wants to create wins and fabricate ratings.

Who knows what the committee will do. We're two weeks away.

I want a 2- or 3-win team to win this year to set expectations, because the game has changed and fans are going to have to adjust.

We are 9-2.

We are having a great year.

We most certainly are, and even if we lost Saturday, it would still be a good year. We beat Alabama and Florida.

I'd rather play either one in Neyland, than either one on the road.
Nevermind the point.

I knew it'd be this way once we finally started winning some games.

Lose to Florida 11 straight years, even worse teams than us and with loser coaches and all any of us wanted was to beat them. Any way possible. By 1 point was good enough, just beat them for heavens sake.

We beat them and "oh my god it took overtime to beat that chitty team, fire somebody and bench Nico".

Same song and dance with Bama. Except it's "well it's not a vintage Saban team".

Chit gets old.
