All year long we heard about the importance of SOS

I saw it. But am I wrong?
You're not talking about me, I am grateful as possible to be where we are. I get that people can poo poo accomplishments unreasonably but I also think it's objectively true that Alabama has taken a step back this year. I can't remember the last time they lost 3 regular season games but it's been awhile. They looked absolutely awful Saturday night. Warmed my heart.

There are several schools in the mix with 1 loss. Most have had rinkydink schedules and really have played no one. When they do play someone, they get beat (sometimes badly). Now all I hear is "they only lost one game". It sounds like the same old same old.

Also, tell me this. Tennessee and Texas. More than likely they will also have 2 losses. How is it that they are a lock and we have one foot out and the other on a bar of soap? Georgia went to their home field and stomped a mudhole in them. It wasn't even close. We played them hard in Athens and if a few breaks had gone our way.... So how are they automatic and we are not? Isn't our SOS higher than theirs'?

The more things change, the more they stay the same.
They lost to Georgia, we lost to Arkansas, that's all.

We have the exact same SEC opponents on our schedule Texas does, except we played 8-3 Bama at home, and they are traveling to 8-3 A&M. That's the only conference opponent that's different. Out of conference they played Michigan and we played NC State. 3 cupcakes a piece.

Also, beat Vandy and we are in. It's as simple as that, without worrying about Texas.
It’s much more enjoyable to talk 💩 on Texas though

Regarding SOS, I notice Indiana plays 9 conference games in the “mighty Big10”, but they have an abysmal SOS, whereas we played a fairly weak OOC schedule and a predominantly bottom half of the SEC.
So why is their SOS so terrible compared to ours? Aren’t the SOSs objectively based on your opponents win/loss record? So how do they continue to claim the SEC is weak, or even mediocre?
I hope we get to shut up some Big fans during the playoffs. Just like Iowa last year.

This is why it shouldn’t be by committee and should be based on a computer with weights like the BCS was. Even if they give weight to the two polls (similar to the BCS) so humans are able to interact, at least the final 1/3 is based on SOS, losses vs opponents records, etc….

Texas got to play Oklahoma on a "neutral" site in Texas. One less true road game than we got. We had to play @UGA, the toughest stop in the SEC the last half decade. They got UGA at home. Alabama is better than A&M. Coming into the games this weekend our SOS was 17th and Texas's was 38th.

They're 8-3 man. They've lost to 2 unranked teams, which is more unranked teams than Nick Saban lost to in 15 years. This ain't vintage Bama and you know it. You can lie to me, don't lie to yourself.
While you are correct in that this isn’t the same Bama we have seen over the last 15 years, they are still a very talented team. Yes, they have lost to two unbanked teams. However, they also beat 9-2 Georgia, 8-3 South Carolina, and destroyed 8-3 Missouri and 7-4 LSU in a night road game. That’s more impressive than anything A&M has done And Texas hasn’t played them yet. Still, in terms of our placement, Texas is and should be ranked higher if they win Saturday but a loss to A&M should absolutely drop them behind us.

I agree that with a loss Saturday, Texas should be ranked behind us, and I expect that they would be. Again, not that it would matter in terms of getting in the playoffs, beat Vandy and we are in, regardless of what Texas does. Not sure why being the victim of a conspiracy is so important to some of our fans that they have to conjure up problems that don't exist to feed their victim mentality addiction.

I don't see it as being victims of conspiracies. I see it as victims of BVS trying to grab hold of confusion and shake the chit out of it and make it make sense to them. On a sports message board that was designed to do exactly that.

If you feel the op, me and whoever else are feeding our victim mentality addiction, then let us feast and stop worrying about it.

Aint nobody ruining this High I'm on right now. Been a long wait to be in the conversation we're in right now and I've been told here by some that think I'm crazy that it's all going to end Saturday. He'll, Just last week smarter people than me 100% Guaranteed me that if we lost to Georgia we were OUT of the playoffs. Period.

What's that poem, Rose's are red violets are blue, gaters sucks and Georgia, Texas, Alabama, gaters, Ohio st, Notre Dame, gaters Do too.

My whole point in this thread is that all we have to do is beat Vandy and we are in, and that what happened with Texas was irrelevant to us. The polar opposite of BVS. Then we got sidetracked by people who wanted to defend Bama's honor. I like your posts, always have, none of this has been any sort of issue with you, or any sort of personal issue with any other poster.

Other than the fact that they have 1 less loss against the same teams we have played.
Zero ranked wins is more similar to Boise State’s and Indiana’s resumes. Texas’s SOS is weaker than Penn State’s, yet they are ahead of Penn State with the same record. None of it adds up.

I know fans like to see them and it starts the bragging early on. But I think preseason polls and the regulars season polls shouldn’t come out until mid season. That way a preseason number 1 can maintain that ranking especially if they have a weak schedule and when a loss happens the fall isn’t so far.
Thats a good idea to hold off on polls BUT media wants to make $$$$ and clicks means money. I mean now there is the AP, Coaches and 100s of other Podcast Polls everywhere. They will start right after the 2024/25 Championship and we will be as curious as a Cat to click on "The way too early 2025/26 College football poll". I'm guilty I will probably bite not because I believe them but curiosity.
