According to Jeffrey and Wilson, Kiffin told Jeffrey that if he chose the Gamecocks, he would end up pumping gas for the rest of his life like all the other players from that state who had gone to South Carolina.
Jeffrey was doing his best to stay awake at that point, but that comment from Kiffin woke him up. He clearly hasn't forgotten it, either.
"He said it, but it's not worth talking about," Jeffrey said.

You have to love it when people say damning things about other people and then say, "But it's not worth talking about." If it's not worth mentioning, why did you bring it up?
Or are they?Kiffin told Jeffrey that if he chose the Gamecocks, he would end up pumping gas for the rest of his life like all the other players from that state who had gone to South Carolina.
If this is true, I'd be curious to know the tone and context in which the comment was made. It could be that the conversation was laid back, with the coaches cutting up with Alshon on the phone, making harmless jokes about South Carolina and Southern Cal. I really doubt Kiffin was being serious, telling Alshon that he'd end up pumping gas for a living if he goes to South Carolina. I mean, c'mon, Kiffin knows that 99% of gas stations in South Carolina are self-service these days.
