Alshon Jeffrey

ALSHON JEFFREY SIGHTING
For the first few days of practice, watching Rivals100 wide out Alshon Jeffrey was beyond frustrating through no fault of his own. The Southern Cal commitment mainly trotted out wide from the huddle, ran downfield twenty yards, jogged back and did it all over again as the South Carolina offense either ran the option or threw short passes using Jeffrey as a decoy. Rare was the downfield pass to the big, talented wide out. But that changed a little bit on Thursday.

Alshon Jeffrey made some big plays on Thursday.Jeffrey was thrown to numerous times in the morning and afternoon practice and made a couple of circus catches downfield. On one play, quarterback Justin Trapp threw a jump ball around 35 yards downfield and Jeffrey simply out-muscled big cornerback Jerrodd Williams for the football. On another play down the middle, Jeffrey made a diving catch between two defenders that even got a rise from some of the North Carolina players who happened to be grabbing some water between the practice fields.
To his credit, Jeffrey has hustled all week and hasn't complained once about not being a big part of the offense and he was rewarded a bit on Thursday with his best day.

I don't know what to think at this point. His visit is still listed on both Scout and Rivals. Perhaps he didn't want to upset the hometown media.

"WR Alshon Jeffrey (6-3 217) of Calhoun County is having an excellent week of practice thus far at the Shrine Bowl and figures to play a prominent role in the Sandlappers' gameplan Saturday. As for his recruiting gameplan, Jeffrey said Tuesday while he remains committed to Southern Cal, USC is going to get every consideration. "I'm still with Southern Cal and my number two would be South Carolina," Jeffrey said. "That's it." Tennessee had been mentioned recently in connection with Jeffrey but he said he's only considering the Trojans and Gamecocks at this point. "I'm just going to do what's best for me and look at the situations. They (USC) are making a real strong effort. They are telling me a lot. They are giving me a lot to think about. I'm going to look it through." Jeffrey said he's not sure if he'll have a decision before Signing Day or on Signing Day. And he added that basketball is no longer a factor with him from a decision standpoint because he doesn't plan to play that sport after high school."

Dont know if this had been posted..Dont feel like going through all these pages..

From Washington...

"I'll be at Tennessee on January 24th, and I might visit Clemson, too," he said. "I don't know much about Tennessee, but coach (David) Reaves came by my school and said I should visit them. Clemson is a good program, too, and they just hired a new coach."

Southern California receiver commit Alshon Jeffrey (Saint Matthews, S.C./Calhoun County) said after practice Wednesday that he was unsure about a reported official visit to Florida on the weekend of Jan. 31. By late afternoon, however, the official visit to Gainesville was on. Jeffrey will visit South Carolina on the weekend of Jan. 17 and Tennessee on the weekend of Jan. 24, before heading to Gainesville.

Does this mean he now runs a 4.3 forty?

Oh wait...that doesn't automatically happen until he commits to UF

I dont really have a lot of hope on this one, but if we can get them on the Hill.....

I will say that if we had a commit from a top 10 qb right now, we would be blowing up.

Pete Carroll told AJ that if he takes his visits USC is pulling their offer

It's not unheard of. Especially from schools that have their pick of recruits such as a USC or Texas. If he says it though, he means it. It's not just a scare tactic.

Yes that too. but he is just trying to scare him to not visit anyone too. If he visits his scholly is gone. I dont question that.

I think Pete knows he is not solid to them, and if he backs out at the last second, Pete has less time to move on someone else.

Coaches hate soft verbals.
