Alshon Jeffrey

if we want to keep digging for past Vol WR's that made it to the league--Willie Gault & Alvin Harper.

who is SC's great NFL star?

Don't forget about Donte Stallworth and Cedric Wilson.

Wilson no more

But Eric Parker did good for the Chargers but injury has forced him out of action.

How you can forget Jason Witten I have no Idea

Carl Pickens?

David Martin...
well I did say, "off the top of my head" so they were just the first 3 I thought of...I was trying to prove a point. I could never forget Witten, he's from 5 min. away from me so he's a huge name in my area...but I was just thinking WRs. In any case, USCjr has no case when it comes to grooming proffesional football players.

IMO, if he wanted the direct conduit to the NFL he would have stuck with USCw...no one can argue that they produce more NFL talent than any other school in the country. I think that if UT had a QB that was heads and shoulders about the crap we have at USC now, it was be a no brainer; however, there are big question marks about both programs at this point. Being as objective as I can, it will come down to the visits. I think that if he is going to commit to UT, he will do it on his visit; if he leaves without committing he will probably end up in Columbia. FWIW, he is out of a high school that is usually a pipeline to Clemson so that is also in your favor.

Best UT receivers in the pros: Witten and Harper. Too bad some of the others could not stay healthy. What ever happened to KWash?

As for USC, our list is small, regardless of what IHATEORANGE says...it would probably only include Sterling Sharpe and possible Sidney Rice (good rookie year but hurt most of this year). Williamson was overrated coming out of college and really needed to stay his senior year (hell I think that Sidney Rice needed to stay both his junior and senior year)

In the recruiting forum I usually just read and move along but I wanted to say thank you for posting an intelligent point of view from an opposing fan, its refreshing.

As for KWash, or The Future, he is covering punts for the NE Patriots special teams.

Good take, but USC does not put out the most nfl players if you look at the past decade. They are near the top, but I know for a fact that OSU (even though I hate the buckeyes) has produced more NFL players.

I can't remember what thread it was in but someone posted the number of former collegiates from the top ten schools in the pros.

What did I say? I never said we had a better program for producing NFL receivers. I even said both teams don't have a QB so you can't give an advantage to either. USC and UT haven't ousted each other in the WR department the past 4-5 years.

I'll give you the last 2 years that UT/SCjr are even on WR the last 2 years, but not further than that.:eek:k:

I guess the way that you say that UT has had a lot of flops lately insinuates that USC has not...

I did not know that, thanks for the info! I never would have thought OSU but it makes sense!

Jeffrey will be good but I question his desire to compete. THere is no doubt that he is talented if USCw offers him; however, I am sure the depth chart scared him there as well that at UF. He is a big kid with good jumping ability and hands. He will be a good college receiver wherever he lands. I like our chances to land him but it would be hard to turn down playing in front of 106K every week....neyland is CRAZY
I heard Carroll say once that he didn't recruit players out of CA unless he thought they would be first round draft choices. I don't like USC or Pete but a kid has talent if he approves a plane ticket.

USCe just lost another assistant according to GVX. That attrition can't look good to recruits especially with open speculation about how long SOS will stay on. These kids might go to USCe due to home state emotions... but they don't look as good in the balance.

We lost Gillespie (RB Coach) a couple days ago to Oklahoma State. That must be who you are referring too...for recruiting it is a big loss, for coaching...well did you see our RB's this year. Not a huge loss. Now I know that you are not digging at USCe but based on your logic please consider that UT is replacing their entire staff (most of the staff at least) so with regards to Alshon it is a wash. As for the speculation of SOS, I bet that he is 100% honest with what he is telling recruits. I bet that he stays at least three more years (minimum) as he told the recruits who will be RS Sophmores that he will be here until they graduate. I doubt that he told the current class the same.

Oh you forgot to mention his membership at Augusta. He will be there until you all let him go or he can't play golf. :good!:

He was pretty good if you look at the stats.

2006: Two RB's that averaged 4.7 yards or better 14 TD
2007: Two RB's that averaged 4.5 yards or better 14 TD

Did pretty good the first two years he was there. Your entire offense was horrid this year. He's a pretty big loss if you ask me.

He was also recruiting a lot of 4 star guys for you per rivals. So that is double pain for you.

there is no doubt that he hurt us by leaving with regards to recruiting. You may be correct about the stats, however we have no OL so the coach at RB really doesn't matter until that is addressed. We have never had a back recently with "gamebreaker" speed so I am not sure how much that is on Gillespie; however you would think that as the RB coach he would have recruited more speed. Though I know that you all hate him, Giles should be pretty good though I think that he will be third on the depth chart behind Brian Maddox and Kenny Miles. I think that Gillespie left mainly b/c our new OL coach was given the title of "running game coordinator" in order for USC to give him a multi-year contract...plus we don't have the money of the big programs to pay them top dollar

may have been posted by Alshon Jeffrey rescheduled his visit to USC for the 31st after his UT visit...could be interesting for you guys

yep...it could be interesting when he cancels after committing during his visit to Knoxville:p

that is what I meant

makes me wonder if he knew that he would be pressured into committing at Columbia...However I would take his committment at anytime with a grain of salt since he has already committed/decommitted once

If it was your OL then why is he not a huge loss with those stats. I don't have time to look, but what were the stats before he was there?
