Alvin Kamara arrested in Las Vegas for Assault

You should check out some of Thomas Sowell's essays. It's interesting to see current black "ghetto" culture and its roots in Southern White (notably Irish) culture of masculinity and honor.

ERTA: That is, if you haven't already. Sorry if that came across as assuming what reading you've done, or haven't.
Thank you, I will look into his essays. I've seen some excerpts from Code of the Street by Elijah Anderson. Thinking about getting the book.

I just looked and it looks like Amazon won't sell "Black Rednecks and White Liberals". It's pretty countercultural, to be honest.

You can probably find the six essays that makes it us online for free though.

…and that story to the police was a complete lie…even more moronic.
Yeah. I said his story didn't make any sense. Why would you think the guy did something to someone in your group and you chased him so he wouldn't get away.
Dude you were right freaking there.
The guy didn't die so he's luck there. He won't see jail time
AK will be out of some money, probably a few game suspension, probation and some type of community service...

Guy disrespected you, and you let it go. That wouldn't go over well in "the hood".
Of course, a ride In a squad car, mugshots, fingerprints, and a little jail time is just a good weekend in some social circles - most of us can’t afford that kind of ordeal.

If you ask someone to be mature in front of children, you can't then commit assault in front of same children. Make sense? Try explaining THAT one.
Hence the important principle of “do as I say not as I do”...I find it essential to good parenting.

So Kamara admits to police the guy was trying to avoid the situation by running away, and that he chased him down and beat the dog s**t out of him.

Moronic.
Kamara wanted the police to believe that he didn't see the punch but heard it. When the guy took off running, he assumed that guy threw the punch. That's why he went after him. Then he says he did see the punch but thought he did something to someone in his group. Of course the video tape proved otherwise. Another reason not to talk to police without a lawyer. Meet with a lawyer, get your lies straight, then give a statement.

Had Kamara not been hanging out with "thugs" this probably would not have happened. AK has been a model citizen since arriving in New Orleans. This situation is totally out of character.

The conduct of Alvin and his posse is beyond disgusting if the video and report is true. It's going to cost him big time, and it should. He could have simply exited the elevator and used another one instead, even used the stairs rather than going macho and rabid. I have no doubt he will get what he deserves for being irrevocably stupid. When you're famous, you should know you're going to be targeted by all kinds of jackasses and ass-jacks. Now, as for you who are mocking and damning him, there are no perfect people, including you. And don't forget to also damn the cowards who shoot students at schools, church attendants at churches, movie theaters, shoppers at malls, department and grocery stores. I mean, if you're going to damn the damnable, make it equal opportunity damning, millionaires or not.

Well, aren't we fortunate to have someone like you point out the obvious from your high and wise place?

Glad the Fulmer Cup doesn't keep up with murder statistics. UF and UT would be fighting it out.

Well, since you all brought that up? In more "recent" history, I only recall Leonard and Donte falling onto that list. And those were not what you call premeditated. Or are we counting Janzen Jackson?

Alvin plead no contest to a misdemeanor charge of breach of the peace. I would say his attorney definitely earned his fee on that one. The initial charges included a felony and the assault/battery wording that could have had serious consequences with the NFL.

Alvin has been a good guy for the most part. I hope this is an anomaly and he stays on the right path going forward.

Agree on the last part. Sometimes when I see these guys exercising poor judgement I can’t help but wonder how much of it might be related to CTE.

In this case, I suspect it was the people he was hanging out with that led to this incident. But, that's still on Kamara.

I wonder what the NFL is going to do. Maybe nothing too harsh, but I can't imagine they will let this violation of their code of conduct go unpunished.

That's what having good lawyers will do for you. This is the correct outcome. Everyone wins.. the 'victim' got the bag he sought and the civil suit will likely settle soon also. Hopefully, AK learns from this.

'battery w/substantial bodily harm' down to breaching the peace or whatever they landed on proves one thing.

If you can afford the lawyers, fees and fines, then it isn't illegal. You just have to pay to commit the act.
