Amanda Knox

They claimed DNA evidence from a bra clasp that sat under a pile of trash for six weeks. That's not tainted evidence? That's not incompetence?

I'm surprised they bothered to put the so-called murder weapon in a shoebox. Wouldn't be surprising if it came out that the prosecution used it to cut up some steaks before they got around to testing it.

For the love of all, don't engage Sandvol in the Amanda Knox case. He convinced himself he knew everything about the JBR case and tried to speak down to everyone who chimed in.

You must not know that Sandvol is the greatest Internet detective ever and will be recorded in the annals of time as this generations Sherlock Holmes

I'm this generations John Holmes, minus the AIDS and big penis. That's what Amanda said.

Sly, you won't sway this guy. He gets all his "facts" from the internet. Everybody knows, if it's on the internet, it must be true.

I know. Doesn't matter either way. Seems to be one of those that selects certain reports that bear out his opinion. You can't sort through this mess and latch onto only what you want. Gotta take it as a whole.

Why don't you read the report? It will clear up some misconceptions you have.

Just read it and I'm not convinced. Recall this report is a translation of the prosecution's case. Of course it will lead you to the conclusion they want you to believe. Regardless, I'm not convinced.

That's fine. But, the report is a summation of the judge's reasoning and weighting of all the evidence and facts of the case to support his ruling. What part of his summation did you not find convincing? Or, can you give me a couple areas where you thought his reasoning was weak?

Here is a photo of Meredith's room. The body was covered with a duvet. But you can see from the photo the room was very clean because by all accounts Meredith was a very clean person. There were 480 items that were collected, tagged, and bagged for analysis by the scientific police. The only "trash" per se on the floor were the spots and pools of blood.

collected the bra clasp. It had been missed because it was lying under the body. They didn't move the body when they were collecting the evidence the first time as not to disturb the scene. You can see they were very careful and followed good cleanliness protocol as they were fully clothed and booted in clean suits. The house had been kept sealed during the time between the first collection of evidence and then. You can also see the floor was very clean. You can see how they might have missed it because it blended into the floor color.

on the cut bra clasp. It was later determined to be a DNA match for Sollecito's DNA and 10 of 16 of Knox's loci matched.

So, they were collecting evidence 6 weeks after the murder?

They went back to give the room another once over after they had almost finished examining the first set of evidence and collected a few more items. That is also common police protocol in this country.

As the famous attorney Alan Dershowitz so distinctly put it recently when commenting about the case, "the devil is in the details."

The interesting thing about this case moving forward will be the extradition proceedings. Her father Curt is an executive for Macy's so the family can hire a good law firm. It is in their interest to turn this into as much of a circus as possible. It should be very entertaining but don't expect it to move quickly.

I've been trying to find a basis for the claim about the shoe box in the records and haven't found any. Here is an excerpt from a report by an American reporter regarding how the knife was collected:

Armando Finzi, an assistant in the Perugia police department’s organized crimes unit, first discovered the knife in Sollecito’s kitchen drawer. He said the first thing he noticed upon entering the place was a “strong smell of bleach.” He opened the drawer and saw “very shiny and clean” knife lying on top of the silverware tray.

“It was the first knife I saw,” he said. When pressed on cross-examination, said his “investigative intuition” led him to believe it was the murder weapon because it was compatible with the wound as it had been described to him. With gloved hands, he placed the knife in a new police envelope, taped it shut with Scotch tape, then placed it inside a folder, he said. There were smaller and bigger knives in the drawer, but no others were taken into evidence from the kitchen, he said.

(Andrea Vogt, The Seattle Post-Intelligencer, 28 February 2009).

P.S.-By the way I read "Conquest of Gaul" years ago when I was an undergrad at UT. Loved that book.

Man Sandvol you are really into this huh?

LOL....Sandman reminds me of my father and the OJ saga....dad was well into his 70's and retired...he got hooked on OJ so bad he reminded us of a white rat self administering cocaine experiment...we had to watch him to make sure he was eating, bathing, and sleeping......

These are the comments of a very insightful blogger.....

"An Italian jury convicted Amanda Knox of murder in Italy, and that conviction has now been upheld by an Italian Appellate Court that reviewed all of the evidence. The decision has now been supported by renowned legal experts here in the U.S. who have also closely examined the evidence presented.

If the U.S. is going to refuse to extradite Knox on the basis of popular opinion which has been inflamed by shoddy reporting, then we should acknowledge that the court of public opinion is the only one that matters and perhaps we should consider whether the U.S. or any country needs jury trials at all.

Perhaps we should just poll the public after highly publicized trials and let that verdict be the one that stands."

There's more evidence against Knox than there was against OJ and everybody wanted to convict OJ....at least all the white people.

Where in that picture is the cleanliness? I know it's a murder scene but am I missing something?

They must not have been looking very close for any fibers or smaller pieces of "evidence."

Well, the bra clasp as you can tell from the picture is white and the floor is an off white and it was positioned under the body so it would not be inconceivable to believe they missed it or even recognized what it was until closer examination. Would it? And, my question would be what would it matter? In our country police retrieve DNA samples from victim's who are dumped in the outdoors or in trash bins and you and the rest of the public don't seem to have a problem with that. But, because the murder occurred in another country and the accused was a cute American girl then because of the slanted reporting by our atrocious media you believe the cops are corrupt? When in most instances you probably don't believe anything you read in the media. Doesn't make any sense. Why don't you stop being a sheeple?

Haha if I am remembering correctly, them rats always chose the cocaine over food or water.
