Pelosi, Schumer say Democrats should get 'equal airtime' after Trump address

Democratic leaders on Monday night called for equal airtime in response to President Donald Trump's primetime address to the nation on southern border security scheduled for Tuesday evening.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., argued that since Trump's speech will be broadcast, the other side of the aisle should have their fair share of broadcast time, too.

“Now that the television networks have decided to air the President’s address, which if his past statements are any indication will be full of malice and misinformation, Democrats must immediately be given equal airtime," they said in a statement.

Straight ****ing pathetic of the both of them to "demand" such a thing.

Why pathetic? President wants the wall; Congress controls the purse strings. Seems like they have just as much say in this as the orange toddler

Had the GOP demanded air time after any of Obama's speeches, you and your ilk would have had an epic conniption fit.

The last time a president gave a nationally televised speech about a shutdown was Obama in 2011, Boehner gave a nationally televised response. The world kept turning.

I don’t think he did . I may be wrong but I can’t remember him taking the blame for anything like that or anything else , it was usually GBs fault or the GOP. Has he ever taken responsibility for anything while he was in office or now ? I’m too lazy to fight google for the answer to that and I just figured you would know if it’s ever been tweeted .

Did Trump shut down the government? Or did Congress refuse to compromise on a spending bill forcing the partial shutdown?

And I do recall this quote:

"I've got a pen and I've got a phone - and I can use that pen to sign executive orders and take executive actions and administrative actions that move the ball forward."

Please don't act like Trump is the first President to threaten to use tools at his disposal to get something done. This current hissy fit is unbecoming of you.

Declaring a national emergency just to save face is taking it to another level.

Anyway, can you name any other time anyone in Congress demanded equal time in response to a televised address by the President. Should I speak of the hierarchy of the governmental system we have and explain exactly why a Representative =/= POTUS?
