Why do cities harbor illegal aliens? Why do liberal states give them drivers licenses and health care? Why are they provided welfare? Why are they allowed to vote? Why is the sky blue? Why is there an Interstate Highway in Hawaii?

The detention centers may not be Club Med, but they're also not concentration camps. Continuing this comparison disrespects the millions who actually died in concentration camps.

If we're going to detain them, then we should treat them with respect and humanity. Food, medical care, soap, we should provide these things if we're going to detain them in such a way. The other option, IMO, is not letting them cross the border to begin with. But once you let them in, you are responsible, IMO.

I don’t have a problem with deporting adults who are here illegally. I think if they haven’t broken any laws then it’s a waste of resources and bad policy, but I can get over bad policies.

Taking kids, separating them from their caregivers, and then not caring for them and meeting their basic needs is well beyond bad policy.

But I agree, children are a different story. They shouldn't be separated from their family. If detained, they deserve to be cared for. It's not the fault of children the choices adults make. But having a child in tow shouldn't make for automatic admission into the country. We need better policy. We need faster processing times. We need better security. I think both parties recognize all of these things, but rather than work together for solutions, they use these issues to batter each other politically. This shouldn't be about a political win. It needs to be about the best solution we can find.

So you think the fact they broke the law just to be in the country should be overlooked. Got it. Only their behavior after entering the country illegally matters. Just can't agree with that. That kind of thinking just encourages more illegal immigration. If a law has no consequence, what is the point of the law? Figured a smart lawyer like person would realize that.

Granting entry based upon asylum. That hasn't worked out all that well either. Entry granted, court/hearing date set and then they never reappear. Lost within our borders for decades.

We cant continue to allow illegals entry and grant them amnesty every decade or so. The system is obviously broken and has been for quite sometime. At this point, the logical solution is to secure the southern border completely and begin a LEGAL entry process that is fair to all.
