America Founded in 1619

You are privileged due to being white in America. No matter how hard you had to work a black person starting from the same spot has less opportunity and has to work harder to get to the same place. That is a fact. Crying won't change it.
Using the term privilege is silly.... it just tries to make white people feel guilty and give black people an excuse to fail.... There are things we need to change in this country but it needs to be done logically without emotion. No one wants to fix any of the real issues with race relations in this country.

My ancestors were not slaves in this country and, therefore, for me to pretend to know what racism feels like is laughable.
Generalize about slavery all you want to make yourself feel better.
Slavery has happened throughout history. Black people enslaved the majority of black people then sold them into slavery. That isn't generalizing, thats a fact. I don't feel bad about it at all. Sh!t happens. Life isn't easy for most people. Dwelling on it gets you nothing.

You know you can pay more....

Yes, but I am not willing to dump more money into the present system of Republicans simply pissing it away on the military and corporate welfare. For all the Republican b!tching about democrats spending... this president, much as that Republican hero Reagan did as well, has completely f@cked the debt all to hell. The same folks that whined about Obama family vacations justify the Trump weekly golf outings to Florida. The same folks that bitched about nepotism now ignore it. The same folks that complained about the deficit now cheer Trump's drunken spending spree.

So you say you have a desire to help people but only if you're people are in charge. Interesting strategy. That being said you bring up valid points. Trump has been war mongering all over the world and starting new wars. He has increased troop size in Afghanistan and ensured that we will have 25 years+ of war there when Obama wanted to end in 2011 but the republicans stopped him. When Trump dumped all that money into corporations because their bad decisions led them to financial ruin, yeah that was terrible! Good thing you are holding off on giving more to the government.

Maybe there will be something that happens in the future that impacts everyone through no fault of their own and you can rise to the occasion and be the super citizen Trump is preventing you from being.

It has little to do with who is in charge and more a function of what the money would be spent for. Republicans could start trying to help average Americans rather than pumping it into the pockets of the wealthy and I would be all for paying more. Until such a date...

Whats funny is that people would be upset by anything that dude said on a message board. Apparently 99.9% of men are racist misogynists according to CNN.
So you don't have any problem w/ what that guy was posting!?!

What do you suggest?

Again, generalizing about "slavery" doesn't relate to the argument at hand. However, if it makes you feel better, keep at it.

And you think things that have happened for years under both sides will magically disappear next time a D is president?

The only thing that will change is D and R supporters will switch sides on what is acceptable. The people today complaining about Trump deficits will ignore Biden deficits. The people today ignoring Trump deficits will complain about Biden deficits. The Ds will spend and the Ds will cheer. The Rs will complain.

I can tell you what will happen should Biden win. The pissing away of govt money will continue. The deficit spending and debt will continue to be f@cked to hell. Both parties have happily spent trillions of extra money in the past 3 months. And there's more to come soon.

If 99.9% of men you know talk like that you hang around with terrible people who are all racist and sexist. Not surprised you are the same.

"Would u let a JET BLACK congo n****er do lasik eye surgery on u for 50% off?" Neff wrote, "I wouldn't get LASIK from an Asian for free, so no." (The subject line was not censored on the forum.) On June 5, Neff wrote, "Black doods staying inside playing Call of Duty is probably one of the biggest factors keeping crime down." On June 24, Neff commented, "Honestly given how tired black people always claim to be, maybe the real crisis is their lack of sleep."
Yeah, damn political correctness.

It's awful that you were denied housing or a job opportunity due to your race. This being said...

Just curious...were any of your ancestors plucked from their families in a different country, crammed onto filthy, disease-infested ships like sardines, shipped to an unknown location, and forced to endure generations of physical labor while frequently being beaten mercilessly and enduring sub-human living conditions?

Mine ancestors were not, and therefore, I don't pretend to understand the plight of the black man or woman in our society.
Probably not.

In all likelyhood they were persecuted for their religion, chased across the Atlantic, and then once here couldnt find a peaceful or safe place to settle down until they got to the frontier.

It's also very likely that one of my grandfather's uncles were lynched for that religion, we're Catholic. I do know that the ancestral farm land they operate has been burned a time or two under not so mysterious circumstances and the community refused to help them. I know outside the farm my grandfather was only able to get a job after he served in WWII because he was a veteran after years of rejection for being Catholic.

Considering he didnt finish high school and lived off the land he knew physical labor very well. Only benefit was working for himself. But by that point so were the AA.

There is also very likely a murderer in family line based on some revenge killings that happened before WWII.

The definition of priviledge that is given out applies to my generation of my family. And the only reason it does is because my older family worked so hard to get us here. And I have seen family take steps back too, so it isnt some magical fairy dust. I wont apologize, feel sorry for, regret, or think less of all the hard work and suffering my family did go thru to get me where I am.

I dont let my family's history define me, heck I am not even a Bama fan any more.

Very interesting family history you have there.
I agree about not letting one's family history define them. My point is that I can't begin to imagine what it feels like to have my ancestors' basic human rights taken away for generations. While discrimination (and slavery) have probably existed since the beginning of time, IMO it's an over-simplification to explain away our country's record on civil rights by pointing at a generalized history of discrimination and slavery across the globe.

Kind of hard for that to happen since the democrats control the House, which is where spending originates.

What?
Slavery 160 years ago is not the root of racism today.

Considering that the base for the word slave is "slav" and that's an eastern european people that coined it under Roman times. Arguing that the basis of slavery is racism, is equally not true.

Looking at European or any other country you want where slavery wasnt as big of a deal. You will still see racism. And it will look very similar to here. Disproportionate numbers of minorities in jail, disproportionate numbers of minorities are poor, laws that favored the locals over the minorities.

Go to any African/asian, south american country where you are a minority and you will face racism. Racism stems from a lack of knowledge and interaction so assumptions are made that tend negative. Societies that have those interactions for long periods will have a history of racism.

You can even look at this country and how various whites were treated. The easiest to point to is the Irish. When they first got here, and for a long time after they were treated very poorly. No irish allowed. Living in slums, no jobs, attacks for their religion. You saw similar treatment for all that came in. Germans, poles. If they were a big enough population there was hatred towards them.

The way the country got past those, and the asians, is they more or less assimilated. Stoped holding themselves apart. Such to the point now where all Europeans are boiled down to "white". We stopped seeing the differences as problems. Differences were accepted and moved on from.

Now we are seeing the AA community back to enforcing differences as a problems with self segregation, affirmitative action, racism this racism that. Instead of moving on to where healing could potentially happen the wounds get picked at. The differences are played up, and we are told we cant work together, or be equal. Someone has to be wrong, someone has to serve someone else, someone else has to pay for my differences. And slavery is the horse that keeps getting beaten.

If I go to Africa, I dont expect their culture to change. If I go to Asia, I dont expect their culture to change or serve me, or treat me special. I dont bring up every wrong that has been brought upon my people by theirs. I dont even bring up the worst. At some point you stop identifying as German, Irish, Catholic. African American; and accept that you are American. And then the conversation is one of what "we" did, not what "you" did. It doesnt absolve anyone, it doesnt forget or pretend that slavery or racism never happened. But with a basis of we you can start to heal. You cant bring the sides together if you constantly refuse to move.

You are privileged by being American. No matter how hard some other national works starting from the same opprotunity, they wont get to where you are. That is a fact. Crying wont change that.

I got some cousins you can go talk to about their priviledge. I am sure they will appreciate some other moderately successful people talking down to them.
