America, the ignorant...

Ah. I suppose, being a follower of Rand, that you fail to see any practical value in tolerance and respect. Carry on.

King was a registered Republican, he wanted people to be judged on merit, not skin color or social circumstance. I fail to see what your point is though, a person doesn't have to know who MLK was in order to go about their daily life. He certainly didn't have a monopoly on tolerance and respect, in fact, there are many who claim to be carrying on his legacy that are intolerant and disrepectful.

MLK, Jr. was adroit at changing the stereotypes and the view of the plight of African-Americans across the US. He believed that the most effective and efficient method to change policy in the US and to gain Civil Rights for African-Americans was through various forms of civil disobedience (feel free to credit Thoreau for the theory and Ghandi for the practical application).

"Tolerance" and "respect" were tools that MLK utilized to achieve an end goal...he was not a Zin Buddhist by any means. The people who try to elevate this man to Sainthood certainly have selective memories and/or buy into some astounding revisionist history.

Washington DC being so culturally diverse might be one reason they scored low.I'm sure NYC would score low as well.

At least Ayn Rand wrote her books...

I imagine that tolerance and respect includes being a womanizer...

Thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

For proving in your last three posts that even if there was no agenda in the making of the quiz (absurd notion, but for argment's sake we'll assume), there is absolutely nodoubt but that there is an agenda in discussing the quiz contents and the results.

Yes, your agenda is quite clear :hi:

then you need to read the LG Manifesto a little more closely.

Yeah, I didn't get that comment at first. I just now read through the thread. I tend to agree that there are some bias questions, but most half-way educated people should be able to pass that test.

And my point was simply that the "pass" or "fail" result is, and was from the beginning, largely irrelevant to the authors and definitely of no moment to those who thought they could single out certain questions and stomp their feet.

Witness therealUT : Eegads! How could people care more about the violent, womanizing, plagiarizing MLK than they do the definition of profit?

The Amazing Kreskin strikes again.

See if you can guess what I'm thinking now :)

Interesting and completely off base speculation, LG. I am doing my best to rebut a common myth about St. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Good effort, kid...

I certainly doubt there are few people in this world who care more about MLK than they do about money and profit. That being the case, it is quite unfortunate that those people know less about said money and profit than about the greatly exaggerated MLK, Jr.

The education system and what is being taught coupled with quality teachers as well as parent participation equals failing grade.Credit to the teachers though. It's hard enough to teach high schoolers, especially disrespectful students that intimidate and threaten teachers. This is the case in a lot of areas. In Chicago at one high school, private donors actually pay money for good grades.I'm not saying I agree but it's interesting.
