An Early Look At 5 Potential SEC Upsets

I was at that 95 game. When Joey Kent got leveled over the middle the blow out began. It poured down rain and we folded. The first half was so much fun. The second half was miserable.

The 1994 game in Knoxville was hell. I left a little after halftime.

They are pretty good in the ACC, had they played UT's schedule last season they would have done well to get 7-8 wins. A weak schedule can make a lots of teams look like a good football team. They were pitiful at times on defense.

In the words of Bobby Bowden, "Who would you rather play, Alabama or Duke?

I'd rather have Duke on the schedule than Alabama:rofl:

If UT beats UF they may fire Muschamp before he even gets back to Florida!

Like Auburn did their basketball coach? Wouldn't even let him ride the bus back from Atlanta. That is cold. At least they paid for his rental car home...

Even USC let Kiffin fly home before jerking him off the bus.

I wish UT would have done that to Derek Dumbass after losing 10-7 to Kentucky

I want to play Florida now that Butch is the coach. If you can't see he is building something good, then you don't know football. We will own Florida, Georgia, S.Carolina, Missouri, Vandy, and Kentucky. It is turning around, you will see. Butch is bringing in the recruits that turn programs around. When we do get it turned he will have a lot of 5 star guys wanting to play for Tennessee. We have a lot of pay back to hand out. And it wont be long before it starts.

Butch was the coach last year and he pulled his first string QB for a kid who threw 4-5 interceptions because he thought that he was better than his starter.

Hint: If I were Florida I don't think that I would be too worried at this point. They went 4-8 last year and still made us look like the doormat of the SEC. And Muschamp has never lost to UT.

Where does this stuff come from?

7 in a row to bama
9 in a row to Florida
6 in a row to auburn
5 of the last 6 to lsu
5 of the last 6 to Georgia

It isn't psychological.

I posted this in another thread, since the Florida streak began, Tennessee has won 14 conference games against teams not named vandy and Kentucky.

10 of those were won by fulmer. Tennessee has won only 4 sec games against sec opponents not named vandy and Kentucky since 2009.

Don't tell me it's psychological. Tennessee has struggled with everybody in recent years. "Gators" on the side of the helmet is not a requirement.

Man that hurts to read!

Can't believe they're saying anyone beating UF is an upset. Especially after the '13 GA Southern game. Muschamp ain't HC material, and will be gone after this season.

It'll absolutely, 1000% will be an upset if Tennessee beats Florida this year.

Tennessee has struggled with everybody in recent years. "Gators" on the side of the helmet is not a requirement.

Last year Mizzou, Auburn, and Florida proved to everyone in the SEC and CFB world how quickly things can change. I think you're wrong about the psychology aspect though. UT does have a bit of a psychological block against UF - there's also no good explanation for why we play so lousy against UF but not against UGA or USC (last year those two were far better but as usual we played them far better than we play UF). But overall, the last few years our struggles have been due to coaching, lack of talent, and being a big fat mess.

That's changing but there have always been teams that should win a particular game against an opponent but somehow mess it up and do so on a consistent basis - UGA has always had an issue with us even when we're down and pull off a win it's a fight for them, UGA has also lost inexplicable games to UF, and of course we've lost some inexplicable ones to UT. Psychology plays a role when it comes to regular opponents - less so when it comes to those you don't play much. It may be overblown but it is there.

I believe the LawGator1 has a good point, but he is wrong, at the end of 2013 the 4-8 Gator team might be an underdog to a 5-7 UT team, but then again, it is a 2014 game and the 5th game for both teams. Doing a quick analysis of the schedules I expect the following:

Florida ( 3-1 ), coming off a bad defeat to Bama, off an open date will be favored by 6
Tenn ( 2-2 ), coming off back to back bad losses to OU and UGA. (no open date)

Florida wins this one 24-22 IMHO. But the vols rebound from their 2-3 record to win 4 of their last 7 and finish 6-6

That Alabama game will start a 5 game losing streak. Florida will lose to Alabama,Tennessee,LSU,Missouri and Georgia in that streak. Will Muschamp could be looking for work after that streak.

The Dooley blown lead is one of the all time bone head moves I've ever seen.

I'd say 1995 Florida game was much worse. They scored 48 unanswered points in what HAD been a close game, with UT pulling away by 2 TD's or so IIRC.

I don't because I want to beat them

I want to beat them too, badly. Unfortunately, my thoughts, wishes and hopes have had no effect on the outcome of the game. It's an annual automatic loss.

Me too. Most on here would probably consider me a "sunshine pumper". But I'm 100% NegaVol when it comes to the topic of beating Florida. I just won't believe it will happen until I actually see it. I guess being 4-17 the last 21 games vs the Gators has me a bit jaded.

Coward! Orange blood doesn't run. Gators got a lot of teeth. That being said, jab a hunting knife in their head and they're just as dead. Course you got to get close enough to do it. The Butch doesn't field gutless teams.

Unfortunately that knife you're talking about is about as elusive to UT in their "quest" to defeat UF as the Sword of Gryffindor was to Harry Potter when he was trying to get rid of Voldemort and that damn snake of his.

Had to laugh, man, just had to howl. That is one cool and funny response. :)
