how is that any different than a full blown drunk?

Besides the fact that the drunk is destroying his liver and probably beating a helpless wife or child, not much. I clearly stated that alcohol is equal to if not worse than weed.

I was just trying to say that weed does affect a person's actions. To say it just makes you happy, hungry and sleepy is not true.

i know of cops in this town who have bought weed and coke, and beat teenagers. in no way am i sayin all police officers are bad, but guys the legal system is in bad shape. and repeatedly i see kids i went to school with gettin arrested for possesion. all they have to do is follow the money trail if they wanted to stop the big distributers, but they dont. there was one detective who actually protected a guy in town that i know. its in every town too guys.

Ive seen the same stuff man but that doesn't mean law enforcement is completely corrupt. And in no way will you ever hear me disagree that the legal system is not royally screwed.

then i really dont understand what your problem was with the post i made last night. there are alot of cops that really wanna do the right thing but they are out numbered by those who use the badge for intimidation and authority.

my first foray into this discussion, but... legalize and tax, put marijuana on par with alcohol in terms of limitations while lowering the drinking/marijuana age to 18 (if you are old enough to make life/death decisions, you are old enough to decide to drink a beer). And no, I'm not a teen or sub-21 college kid.

I am 47 and think it is crazy to lump it in with heroin and coke. It is as harmless if not abused, just like alcohol when used in moderation. Dont have a prob with taxing it with legit distributers. You wanna peddle for a few bux and not pay tax. See you in jail my friend.

from what i read they made it illegal at the same time they made alcohol illegal. i could get into it but i dont wanna ruffle any feathers.

No, they made it illegal when they made alcohol legal again.

A book that would be interesting for smokers

and should be required reading for non-smokers. :)

IMO a teenager would do at least as well to skip the MJ experience, there isn't that much to gain and a heck of a lot to lose, I speak from experience and observation.

Legalize pot? Obama just says no to marijuana - Twitterers upset | csmonitor.com

Hey man…

Should the U.S. legalize pot as a way to grow jobs and stimulate the economy?

That was the top question asked today by visitors to the White House web site. There was speculation whether the president would take it or not

The answer is: Yes! (Not legalizing marijuana but if he took the question).

Answer

“I don’t know what this says about the online audience,” the president said to much laughter.

“But, no, I don’t think that is a good strategy to grow the economy.”

I wouldn't call this a step back for pro-weed movement. He only dismissed legalization to incite economic growth. After all the administration has announced they will end federal raids on groups that supply medicinal marijuana.

Baby steps.

I have never quite understood why a person can drink 20 shots and do keg stands, not go to jail and a guy can smoke a roach and go to jail. My son has a friend (slowly becoming ex-friend) thats a crack head and it freaking controls his entire life.PITIFUL state.Crack is one of the real demons, no doubt.

They can't figure out a good way to tax it. Thats probably the only reason it isn't legal now. Short term memory loss, lack of motivation are the two worst things about it. I guess its possible it could give you lung cancer eventually, but there isn't a single case of that happening i don't think.

I would have to say it does a little more. I witnessed it's affects first hand in college and while I don't believe it is addictive to the point that you can't stop, the idea of being high is very addictive. My roommate couldn't go to class in the morning without smoking his roaches from the night before. If he didn't have the money or couldn't find someone to buy off of, he was beside himself. He was angry and couldn't function everyday tasks. He was also very lazy and somewhat of a slob. You can become addicted to just about anything and show similar signs like these, I know. I love the guy and as far as I know, now, he has "cleaned" himself up, but watching him completely turned me off to potheads.

That being said, I drank entirely too much in college and was 1000 more times as wild as he was. His only concern was to get high and sit in a dark room and listen to music. My concern was getting drunk and going to that night's hang out spot. Usually driving recklessly to get there, and being an absolute idiot while I was there.

I do not feel that it should be illegal, but I, also, have no use for a pothead.
Your room-mate seemed a lot more in control than you and he's the bad guy, needed to clean himself up.Maybe you were the reason he stayed off in his room alone so much.:dunno:

I am of the opinion that having this grouped in the class as Heroin and Crack is quite crazy. With proper regulations I feel it would be safer than alcohol if decriminalized. Heck if it was legal I might even toke again a couple of times a year.

Most of the people who get cancer from weed also smoke cigarettes.
Weed does this to you:
1)Hungry:drool:
2)Happy:)
3)Sleepy:snoring:

Legalize it. The people who smoke it are doing it anyway. Might as well hit the Mexican drug lords in the pockets while padding our own.
