Anarchy In Portland

'We step over needles and people sleeping to get to work': Federal staff rage over homeless encampment outside their Portland office as 'defund the police' commissioner says it's just part of 'city's growth'

Federal workers in Portland went off on city commissioners over the 'intolerable' and 'dangerous' conditions of the downtown area outside federal buildings, where they describe having to 'step over discarded needles and people sleeping in doorways to get to work.'

On Wednesday, the City Council heard from two people who both live and work in downtown Portland who demanded that the situation be addressed, specifically, the massive homeless encampment outside federal buildings.

'Drug dealing is rife, and we often have to step over discarded needles and sleeping forms in our doorways to get to work,' he added. 'Employees have had many dangerous and threatening encounters with unhinged residents of these camps.'

Commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty, who spearheaded the 'defund the police' movement in the crime-ravaged city, brushed back the concerns by saying the current housing crisis is part of the city's growth and 'changing systems.'

Historic Portland jewelry business will Shutter after 90 YEARS Thanks To Woke Policies which turned city's downtown into Crime-Ridden, Riot-Ravaged Hellhole

  • Despite major efforts, the business couldn't survive 'downtown's vandalism, homelessness crisis, and sense of nighttime lawlessness,' David Margulis said
For nine decades, the treasure-filled windows of the historic Margulis Jewelers made visitors rushing through Portland's busy downtown stop in awe at the sight of delicate, vintage-styled gemstones.

But despite major efforts, the business couldn't win the fight against 'broken downtown's vandalism, homelessness crisis, and sense of nighttime lawlessness,' owner David Margulis said.

'This was an agonizing decision—it was never our plan to close our doors,' Margulis, who took over the reigns from his father, Jerome, in 1985, wrote in a letter to customers.

'But Portland has experienced the perfect storm of adversity and independent businesses simply cannot withstand the economic forces which have caused the deterioration and resulting emptiness of Downtown Portland,' he added.

Margulis had long decried the area's descent into violence, blaming city officials for 'doing the talk, but not walking the walk,' and exacerbating the issue with woke policies.

In a last resort to save his decaying business three months ago, Margulis conducted a 'survival sale,' marking 20-40 percent off the store's entire multi-million dollar inventory.

The measure was not enough to balance out the 72 percent decrease from foot traffic in the downtown area - and the homeless encampments and riots driving away potential customers.

'Without action, we can expect worse to come': Sheriff calls for urgent solutions as Violent Crime in America's Woke Capital of Portland Soars 30% in a year after city's council cut the police budget by $15 Million in 2020

A Sheriff in Oregon has called for urgent solutions to violent crimes as offenses including murder soared 30 per cent in a year after the city's council cut the police budget by $15million in 2020.

Multnomah County Sheriff Mike Reese warned in an open letter published on Friday that 'without action, we can expect worse to come' as he said 'the data reflects... record-high levels of gun violence, traffic fatalities and overdose deaths'.

The liberal Pacific Northwest city, which slashed its police budget in the wake of protests over George Floyd's murder, set a record last year with 92 homicides - the highest since there were 70 homicides in 1987.

Portland resembles an 'open air drug market' after Legalizing Hard Drugs: Overdose deaths skyrocket by 41% in the Democrat-led city as homeless addicts collapse on sidewalks

The streets of Portland resemble an 'open air drug market' after state officials' scheme to decriminalize hard drugs led to a surge in overdose deaths, critics claim.

Law enforcement agents say that the streets of Portland are full of homeless addicts openly buying and selling drugs and that signs of drug addiction are actually increasing statewide, Fox News reported.

Photos show the desperate situation in the Pacific Northwest city, where people can be seen shooting up drugs or passed out in broad daylight.

The dreadful scene comes 16 months after Ballot Measure 110-which passed with 58.8 percent support- decriminalized hard drugs in the Democrat-run state.

Starbucks will Permanently Close 16 of its stores in Woke Cities across the US - including in Seattle, Los Angeles, Portland, Philadelphia and DC - after staff are accosted by customers high on drugs

Starbucks is shuttering more than a dozen stores due to reports of rife drug use and disturbances by brazen members of the public at the popular cafés.

The reported disruptions include drug use by paying customers and, more often than not, members of the public - who often take advantage of the company's open bathroom policy, which allows nonpaying patrons to use their facilities.

As a result, the lavatories have in large part devolved into dens of debauchery, regularly used by vagrants and homeless to do drugs and engage in other illicit behavior.

Reports of assaults were also commonplace in the cities set to see closures, which include the company’s hometown of Seattle, as well as five other liberal-run municipalities.

Officers spotted the assault in progress while on another call in the area of Southwest 5th Avenue and Southwest Hall Street.

The suspect repeatedly punched and kicked both elderly victims and continued to assault them after they fell to the ground, according to witnesses and video evidence obtained by police.

Horrific footage from July 20 shows the woman hyperventilating with her own crimson blood gushing over her face before she realizes what has happened to her.

Cracker Barrel latest Portland casualty for stores shuttering amid crime wave

A Portland Cracker Barrel abruptly shut down this week, with employees reporting that the closure is due to security issues in the area.

"There's a lot of theft," local man Steve Goodwin told KGW when news of the closure spread in town. "People on drugs."

Portland has been struggling with rampant crime in recent years.

Researchers for the California Partnership for Safe Communities compiled crime data from Portland earlier this year, specifically examining homicides and non-fatal shootings from 2019 to 2021. The data found that there was a 144% increase in homicides from January 2019 to June 2021 while non-fatal shootings increase by 241% from January 2019 to December 2021.

Report: Inmates Bailed Out by Portland Freedom Fund Never Returned to Court

malik-muhammad-1-640x480.png

The Portland Freedom Fund bailed numerous inmates out of jail on the condition they would later appear in court, but a recent investigation reportedly found that was not always the case.

The fund shared images of cash, checks, and receipts on its Facebook page documenting the bail, however a KGW 8 report published Thursday said some defendants committed additional crimes after release.

The fund described itself as a “volunteer-run abolitionist organization currently dedicated to reducing harms perpetuated against our Black, Brown and Indigenous neighbors by the criminal justice system through posting bail so they may navigate their case from a position of freedom.”

Meanwhile, the KGW piece highlighted the case of Mohamed Osman Adan, who allegedly killed a woman named Rachael Abraham not long after the fund helped free him.
