Anastasia Hayes dismissed.

That would a player thing, not a coach thing. Most coaches bend over backwards to help these players, but they have to want the help to make this happen.

Did not realize she was dismissed.

According to Auriemma she was dismissed for not doing what he told her to do - repeatedly. He finally got fed up and dismissed her. As far as I know there was no mention of team rules violations other than the main one. "Do what the coach tells you to do."

Officially, she left the team of her own accord. IIRC, Geno trashed her during an interview and insinuated that she was asked to leave the program. Reading between the lines, it sounded more like him telling her she wasn't a fit for the program as opposed to her violating a policy...maybe bad practice habits or something. Still, not a good look for him to trash her like that, but I suppose that's to be expected.

AMB - It wasn't during an interview. It was at a private function where somebody asked him about EH and he told them why she was gone. I'm sure he was not aware that some jerk fan was recording it and they later posted it on the BY.

Regardless it was a public place where HE bashed a player. There is no need for that. So the person wasn’t being a jerk as much as Geno was being himself and bashing a young lady. He did the same with Brunelle for going to ND ? His defense there ?

Only five can play at a time so I think we will be able to sufficiently replace what Hayes would do next season. I think we'll see a lot of Massengill at point guard. She is a natural won't see the turnovers out of her even as a freshman that you saw out of Hayes and Westbrooks. She is a very under control player that doesn't try to force anything. I expect we'll really enjoy her point guard play.
Hoping that Jackson has again improved she was certainly a better player as a junior. Where she needs to improve as a junior is court mentality. She made a lot of unforced errors last season need to reel those in.
I like Coach Jumpers suggestion that Westbrooks be used as point forward she is certainly a terrific passer that would be better in that position other than point guard.
Eager to see if KK, Green, and Brown can play better defense as well as create enough offense to replace Russell. I think we'll be better on defense while lacking some offense from this position.
Davis has to be our star and hopefully the other Green can do what Davis did as a freshman if that happens we have a powerful scoring punch from that wing position.

Massengill will be fine with the players she will be hitting the floor with. All she has to do is incorporate her game into a mass of athletic and skilled co-players.

I know that Meme is working on extending her offensive game this summer. She is already a lottery level "athlete",,,if her skills can reach lottery level, she may have a chance to do something big this year.

Agree with the Bigs...Let's find out who wants to fill that role. I look at Green as our go to for power and KK as our go to for physical this year. The others I have to look at. Agree fullly better on D and O is a question mark.

If I had Evina for a full summer, first thing I'd do is teach her the mechanics of movement. Her full speed run is pretty good mechanically, but her lateral and slow-running mechanics are painful to watch. . . Whereas Meme's movements are fluid and she is needing higher level offensive skills,,, Evina is higher skilled but not fluid in movement. Hopefully the S/C coach has seen this.

Davis comes in with an excellent ratio of skill to speed...Watch out "Mique", this one may give you a run for GOAT when its all over. The thing I would work on with Davis is getting her shot from the temple instead of from the push. The only time you should ever push your shot is if you are out of your comfort-range...otherwise the mechanics only change to circumstance of the shot environment. (meaning: If you are in your comfort zone, shooting the jump-shot should look the same at 5 ft as it does from 10'-11'-12'-etc...It is when you reach the point where you can no longer shoot this exact shot that the shot changes.)

It’s unfortunate anytime a player gets dismissed. But I think we should remember that these are young adults and many of us know from experience that they are prone to making some bad decisions. It doesn’t necessarily mean that she’s a bad teammate or that her parents are to blame. Hopefully she learns from whatever her bad decisions were and becomes an even better adult in life.

Ah, ok. They must have changed the rules. I remember there was a Michigan men's player who tested positive for marijuana and got a 6 month suspension from the NCAA, but that was probably about 5 years ago.

Right, he tested positive at the NCAA tournament, which is a 1-year suspension.

Why not aim for D1
If she is "extremely fast" that makes her a speed guard.
D1 is in need of such players too.

Can she go from baseline to glass in 4.4?
(Time her from BL to BL without the ball and BL to glass on a layup...The time should vary maybe .2-less of a second)
If the time is more than 1/4 of a second difference she isn't ready.

Just because someone says she is D2 doesn't mean she is.
Its up to her. And you.
I will test her out and see what she can do it in.
well?

Her sister had a visit to MTSU this weekend not a surprise ... the surprise maybe that (Texas transfer) Rellah Boothe was there with her. If he can get Boothe and Hayes that might be the making of a top 25 team for a couple of years like the used to be.

I am looking forward to the new season! As for former players, let's play who we have who WANTS to represent the LVs by doing whatever has to be done, be it grades, or habits, or physical fitness, or working on skills!

Coach J: Are there more WBB transfers now than there used to be? Was I just unaware of it in the early days?

Have you had your work out yet?
volbeast33

Not the one we discussed.... we work out pretty much everyday possible but outdoor courts....I want to test her when we actually get on an indoor regulation surface. Her coach is a great coach but not the greatest about getting access to courts....... I didn’t really go into great detail about my daughter.... I don’t think she plays as fast as she has the ability to play.... she is getting better every day but everything hasn’t come together all the way for her yet.
