And now this….

I agree with all of this ... and I would like to add that I find it suspicious that these types of incidents are only reported by visiting fans, after their team loses. Does anyone remember Alabama fans complaining about their (alleged) mistreatment in 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016 or 2018 when they were beating the hell out of us? I think it's a case of sour grapes.
There was a drunk middle aged LSU woman giving a group of UT fans hell at the game. I thought the UT fans were overdoing it but no biggie. The woman was an embarrassment to the LSU fans around her. They were mocking her more than anyone else.

Alcohol, immaturity, and stupidity is a bad combination.

I wonder if this is similar to how the piss balloon myth got started?

I’ve heard that one about Gainesville, Baton Rouge, Athens, and Auburn.

Best to believe none of it.

Not without some strong evidence, at least. This poor guy has had a lot of misfortune in his life and has probably never had this much empathy and attention showered on him (pun intended). There's a lot of complex psychology going on here. It's hard to make good decisions when feelings override rationality -- and all of us humans are susceptible to it.

I would hope that this is just an accident. I believe it is, however at the same time you never really know. Bama looks like wimps imo because they fabricated so many theories so far. They cant handle losing.

IF this happened it is an absolute despicable act. I am not calling the man a liar; however, I find it really hard to believe that anyone seated in that of all areas would be subjected to that type of treatment. I took a good look at the folks in the stands behind him. They do not look like a bunch of drunken idiots in the picture. Is this someone that had a beer spilled on him accidentally? Did this story come out after two videos surfaced of an Alabama player assaulting people on the field? This seems very strange to me. I sincerely hope this is investigated thoroughly. If true, the perpetrators should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. If this turns out to not be true, individuals making false statements should be held equally accountable.

I doubt anyone intentionally threw a beer at a dude in a wheelchair… people were so excited at the end of the game, someone probably threw their hands up (beer included) in celebration and just splashed beer on everyone around them. It happens. 🤷🏻

I got beer on me and I was at home

lol!

This explanation fails to satisfy the losers that the winners are just a bunch of big evil undeserving meanies.

It was probably the same fans that beat up the midget trainer. Was a drink "poured" on him or were fans throwing drinks up in the air in the celebration and some got on him?

According to the article he changed his shirt to an alabama shirt at halftime to support his alma mater’s comeback effort.

The article showed him wearing an orange and white sweatshirt in one pic and in the second pic it showed him in the same shirt with an Alabama t-shirt "draped" over him...not exactly wearing it. I'm not so sure I buy all of this one. If true, it is reprehensible. Out of 101K fans, I'm sure there was an idiot or two there...just don't try to wipe us all with that brush

There's a lot of posts here essentially saying that inadvertently getting hit by flying beer is realistic on gameday.

Didn't Neyland just start selling beer a couple years ago? Maybe they need to remove the beer sales, if people in wheelchairs can't avoid getting hit by it "inadvertently".

At this point, I'm expecting a Ken Burns documentary detailing the horrors of the Alabama innocents visiting Neyland Stadium. A man wearing a houndstooth hat in a grainy black and white picture appears on your screen. Then the narrator speaks...

Dearest Sister & Wife...

As I write this to you, I fear that I may well be on my way to meeting my maker. For you see, darling sister, I have been wounded by these evil hillbillies and the equally repulsive referees who are aligned with them. They have said mean things to me, poured beer on me, and dared score more points on our beloved Crimson Tide than we scored. Death is near, all too near, and I fear that Marse Nickie will not be able to overcome it.

Remember our wedding when our two parents gave us that toilet bowl with Bear Bryant's ass painted on the seat? I will remember that moment for the rest of what remains of my life here in Knoxville. Our carnal relations were divine. I only wish I could have lived to share that special Alabama kind of love with our children as well.

With Love Eternal,
Purnell Bear Bryant Simpleton
Eutaw, Alabama

If someone did this on purpose, they should be beaten, but the story didn't say anyone did that.
"Goode, who is confined to a wheelchair due to his disease, had drinks poured all over him during the celebration and pandemonium."
So did people seek out to pour drinks or was it the result of people running and jumping with beer getting everywhere? Terrible awareness if so, but not the same.

Read the “proof”, had drinks poured on him during the celebration and pandemonium. I imagine drinks went up in the air and came down on him. If he’s in the friends and family section as it said, there is no way coaches/players families are deliberately pouring drinks on anyone, especially not a disabled father of one of our own coaches.

this was exactly my thought. drinks went flying, and someone in his party got big mad and tried to make this into something that it absolutely is not.

Exactly. Every fan base has its share of idiots.

I don’t have time to read through all the comments but my guess is this was an accident in all the chaos. It’s also possible very drunk fan did this. When alcohol is allowed with 100,000 people you can get stupid decision making.

Shame on the fan in the wheelchair for starting it. I guess.

*Assuming the story is true and he was dowsed intentionally *

Many unknowns regarding this story. I think Bama fans are making a lot of crap up to be honest. The most entitled spoiled brats in the SEC lost so they attempt to make the fan base look like jerks but in the meantime Jermaine Burton hits a female Vol fan as he’s leaving the field and hardly anyone is talking about that. It would take a low life to hurt or throw food/drinks on a wheelchair bound person regardless of the circumstances.

Bama fans might be. That's why I have a qualifier in my replies.
News media, social media, and Saban are all talking about Burton.
I agree that it would take a low character person to attack someone in a wheelchair.

I don't even know what the point of Alabama bringing this up is. He was wearing UT gear. No disrespect, but I bet not on UT fan in that stadium knew who he was besides his own family. Based on the videos we've seen, if anybody did do it intentionally, it was most likely a bama player.
