And so it begins...

Florida doesn't have that kind of juice.

I'd welcome FSU into the East in a heartbeat.

Miami needs the SEC more than the SEC needs Miami.

Im pretty sure you have to have a certain vote from SEC schools depending on the states etc. It was said Florida would nix the idea of either FSU or Miami joining the SEC. Same could be said for say USC nixing the idea of Clemson. Id love for them to drop Vandy and Kentucky and add both FSU and Miami

If you were to add another school to the east it would either be Clemson or Ga Tech. Florida would over rule allowing a school like Miami or Florida St in the SEC. That was the big kicker when the first talks happened last year.

Wrong...None of those schools will leave the ACC...GT would not be welcomed back after they bolted from the SEC years ago...They had their chance....Florida can complain about FSU or Miami joining which they never will but UF whining wouldn't keep them out if the SEC wanted them in.

Both Vandy and Kentucky are charter SEC schools and actually much more valuable to the SEC than Miami or FSU....Vandy academically and Kentucky for basketball...Lady VOL basketball draws more fans to a game than Miami does to a home game in football...FSU would be a decent fit but they already said no a long time ago...They would not be pursued...More than likely the SEC would go after WVU to add to the mix if Texas A&M joined

+1

UF alone couldn't keep FSU out of the SEC...ditto for South Carolina keeping
Clemson out.

FSU would be a nice addition to the conference. Clemson would be better served staying where they are. They haven't won the ACC in 20 years.

I had not entertained the thought of WVA coming to the east...would be nice if they would get back onto an upswing in football...just to make the conference stronger...after all that is what expansion is about...making your conference stronger.

We all hope that's what it would be about, but it's not. It's about the almighty dollar, and WVU is in one of the worst media markets in the region. They would be splitting the pie without making the pie any larger.

West Virginia will never be a member of the SEC.

I fail to see how such an insane level of competition does anything but make it harder to get through a season unscathed. Adding too many strong teams will do nothing but assure that the SEC plays in the title game less after the media falls in love with another conference. I think, as a conference, the SEC has a pretty good thing going right now.

EAST
Alabama
Tennessee
Florida
Georgia
South Carolina
Kentucky
Vandy
West
Auburn
Oklahoma
LSU
A&M
Arkansas
Miss St
Ole Miss

Simple as that. The teams play the team in it's slot every year. (Bama Aub) (TN OK)(Fl LSU) (Geo AM) ect
Only rivalry lost is Georgia-Auburn, but starts a new one with A&M and Tenn gets a new one with Oklahoma.

You play everyone in your division and then your every year rival from other division and rotate one new school every two years from the other division after a home and home.

Tennessee schedule could look like this 3 consecutive years
First year
MTSU (OOC)
UCLA (OOC)
@ Florida
Georgia
La Tech (OOC)
Oklahoma(west)
@Bama
@Miss St.(west)
South Carolina
Memphis(OOC)
Vandy
@Kentucky
Following year
Marshall(OOC)
@UCLA(OOC)
Florida
@Georgia
UAB(OOC)
@Oklahoma(west)
Bama
Miss St(west)
@South Carolina
Louisiana Monroe(OOC)
@Vandy
Kentucky
3rd year
Tulane(OOC)
NC St.(OOC)
@Florida
Georgia
Southern Miss(OOC)
Oklahoma(west)
@Alabama
@Ole miss(west)
South Carolina
@Memphis(OOC)
Vandy
@Kentucky

and so on....

Say what you will about Clay Travis, but i did like his take on a 16 team SEC split into 4 divisions.

The AD at Cal-Berkeley seems to think there will be 4 BCS conferences sooner rather than later (see question #4). Could they all be going to 16 teams? Sandy Barbour & Kenwick Thompson Q&A: Cal Will Play Colorado In 2011 - California Golden Blogs Yet, she also thought adding Colorado and Utah would help snare Texas. :birgits_giggle:
