And so it begins...

Wow...you would think a vote yes and bringing in more to a rivalry game would be extra $$$ in the bank...plus then one of your OOC games is now an In Conf, so you could schedule another OOC cupcake if you're Florida...:)

Well, would A&M have a vote if the SEC added A&M before picking a 14th team. If so, that cartel would need a 5th party to prevent 9 votes.

I think GTech is the most logical choice for geographical and historical reasoning. Tv revenue is the biggest driver though, so that may hurt Tech's chances.

The SEC does not need Texas A&M or want Texas A&M. The last expansion in '92, the SEC commissioner had a done deal to get Texas & Arkansas to the SEC but the Texas state legislature would not let Texas leave unless it took Texas A&M also. Obviously it fell through because the SEC don't need another average team. Arkansas has beat Tesas A&M the last two years and has an almost 2 to 1 win/loss record against Texas A&M. If Arkansas is just a 2nd tier team in the SEC, then how in world can Texas A&M contribute. Right now at least, I don't see the legislature approving the split.

As far as the split, I think that's different. Texas can survive if A&M goes to the SEC. What the hell would the Aggies be good for if the Big 12 fell apart and the SEC didn't want them?

I just don't see how a team the quality of Miss. St. adds anything to the SEC. The SEC is already the best conference by far. Texas is the team the SEC has always been after. Texas A&M is now 2-12 in its last 14 bowl games. The SEC measures success by NC, Texas A&M is just not a team that can contribute there.

Texsucks is going to call their own shots. Whether it's independent of any league or with all the little sister programs in the state, they can forge their own path. And being in the SEC ain't gonna be in that.

I don't see the point in expanding to 14. Divisions with seven teams would be odd, I think.

I'm with you. Texas a&m can stay put, and the SEC can stay the same, and I will be happy. If a&m comes over, they need to add another team to the opposite division. Jmo

None of the ACC schools will leave to come to the SEC...None of them could benefit the SEC anyways..Did you see how many fans UNC brought to Nashville?...Pathetic

One ACC school that conceivably would make that jump might be NC State. They're already 2nd/3rd fiddle in North Carolina anyway. What would they have to lose by switching? But the other side of that is would they really bring anything to the table for the SEC if they did?

Quick question for SEC fans, one that will go right over agy heads. Which SEC school would be willing to forego a sizable portion of annual TV revenue to add aTm? YouTube - Hey Bob! :loco:

Texas A&M is coming, may as well except that. Either Oklahoma or Virginia Tech will follow suit.

Yea coming to the PAC-10, where mediocrity reigns. Oklahoma is sticking with TX for the Red River game, and they already told the Big 10 no. All the teams in the Big 12 have it set up just the way they want it now. Easy schedule, and no conference championship game that could negate a great season the way it did in the past.

A Florida school with decent sports programs that could be easily added to the East if A&M enters. UCF.

I think it would be Miami for the $$$. I remember reading this when conference expansion was at it's height this summer. They wanted the Miami demographic for ratings on television.

The SEC turned down Miami last time because they didn't want to commit all their programs. They would only compete in football and keep the rest of their sports separate like Notre Dame.

The Big 12 will cease to exist in 2-3 years. It already is on life support and the new Texas TV deal only adds fuel to the fire. A&M will be in the SEC in the near future if it wants to be. There is no way Mike Slive would turn down A&M if it wanted to be in the conference. He will make room.

Dude, the Big XII is done. Texas is going independent.

I could see adding any one of the other Four Florida teams in addition to ATM over say a Clemson or VTech. I believe FSU would be first choice over Miami.

Pointless. These additions aren't for the sake of additions. They're business ventures. Adding FSU or Miami does little to nothing for the business aspect of expansion. The Florida market is already covered.
