And some of you guys think we'll finish 8-4

Did you skip over the list that the OP put out for you? That Utah St. Game is going to be a nail-biter for a very young and inexperienced Vol team. It would not surprise me for The Aggies to put up a lot of points. I think UT will be playing catch up in the 2nd half, pal.:hi:

If this is the right staff to right UT's ship then they will control this game from the opening kickoff and win going away. The "usual" reasons for an undermanned mid-major to hang around aren't present in this game.

USU isn't going to "surprise" UT. Their recent success actually hurts them by assuring a more talented team doesn't overlook them.

Many will be calling them the favorite or have UT on an upset alert.

There is no prior games making this a let down.

Their system and players are known to UT.

There's no instability on UT's side... and currently no off the field distractions.

They are a good mid-major going up against an SEC team with more talent and perhaps even greater motivation to play well.... a team with top 10 resources and facilities. This should be a game like you expect between a mid-major replacing well over half of its starters and an SEC team.

If we went 8-4, Butch would deserve Coach of the Century honors. I think too many on here discount how difficult replacing BOTH lines is under the best of talent situations, which we certainly are not. We have talent yes, but SEC football is won with line play & smart QB management, precisely where we are currently deficient. We are headed in the right direction, but we are a 5-7 team with potential to win an extra game we probably shouldn't.

However, if Butch keeps recruiting like this, watch out.

Really? Coach of the CENTURY?

My post said nothing about the Aggies "surprising" UT. It won't be a surprise to anyone that they'll be an explosive offensive team. And, over his career, CBJ has and will fall behind and lose to some teams that Vol fans think he shouldn't. He's a good coach, not Superman. My only point is that UT fans shouldn't set expectations higher than CBJ, or any coach, can reasonably fulfill. Utah St. Will be his fist challenge of the season. And I believe they'll be a challenge indeed. Especially for a young and experienced opponent, early in the season. If you're expecting a cakewalk, you might want to rethink.

If Butch can win 8 games with our schedule and with the players on the current roster then I am seriously revising my expectations of how long it will take him to make it to the NC game.

Good thing Georgia isn't playing Utah State, cause you guys sound terrified of them.

Wrong, Jackson was put in the bank until the others got out of the way. Crowder did start ... against SC. Kerbyson and Wiesman did contribute. Our big tackles, C. Thomas and Blair, weren't even here last year. Sanders and Kendrick were freshmen, redshirted, which is what you would want to do with them when you have 4 or 5 seniors. :shades:

Not sayin' any SEC team should be afraid of them. But to say that a young Vol team should run away with the game is unreasonable, IMHO. I think this game will be close.

The season is a long hard road . Things happen .Injuries turnovers ,big plays, penalties and such. Right now we are undefeated and one game at a time Ill put my orange on and Ill expect to win . If you arent disappointed with a loss I dont care who we play , you are more of an analyst than a fan. More emotion than reason ? Yep!

It's unreasonable to think that the bulldawgs will run away with any of their games. But you might squeak by with some fumbles in overtime or something. Good luck. I do always pull for you over any Spurrier team.

Think South Alabama '13. As the coaches would say, no opponent should be overlooked. Agree we should win this match up though.

I think that our team is going to dominate this Utah state team. I don't think it will be close. UT is turning the corner and these new guys are bringing in a new attitude and desire. This young talent combined with veterans like AJ, Randolph, Maggit, Lane, Pig, will create a speacial batch of in your face football. There will be lots of Jawing, barking, borderline unsportsmanlike conduct, but there won't actually be any flags thrown. There will be borderline dirty play from these elite players, one might call it "swag". I'm excited to see it, and I bet you are too?

You can take your arrogant ignorance somewhere else.

Can you name those teams that Jones has lost to that he shouldn't have? I would count Vandy from last year. You act as if he's been plagued by it over his career.

You can believe whatever you like. USU replaces as many or more starters than UT does. So whatever it was they accomplished over the past 3 years... doesn't really have much bearing on this game.... They don't even have the same coach that built their program to respectability among mid-majors. Do your homework!

They may have Keeton back but pretty much NONE of the WR's he made his mark with prior to his injury are still there.

You are the one looking for Superman... on the other sideline.

We have 10% chance going 8-4 this year. 15% 7-5. 30% 6-6. 30% 5-7. 10% 4-8,5% 3-9 or worse.

Tennessee has a zero percent chance of winning less than 5 games. If we could win 5 games with Derek Dooley as our coach and with our schedule the last few years then I dont think we will ever win fewer than 5 games.

We have a 0% chance of going 3-9 or 4-8
We have a 25% chance of going 5-7
We have a 40% chance of going 6-6
We have a 25 chance of going 7-5
We have a 10% chance of going 8-4

No offense, and I appreciate the enthusiasm, but you have no earthly idea what you're talking about IMO. Again, no offense.

Right, so Crowder, Kerbyson, and Wiesman were for the most part backups which are the guys who could not beat out the starters.

Blair is a true freshman with serious questions about whether he can live up to his 4* rating and the other tackle is a walk-on.

No one should consider this O-line better than last years group of experienced players until they prove otherwise.

Blair's not a true freshman. He's a JUCO transfer, has played 2 years of JUCO already and was considered one of the top JUCO tackles in the country last year.

right. I wasnt considering JUCO players to be any different than freshman. First time playing in the SEC. And I know how he was rated. Like I said there have been serious doubts that he can live up to those ratings from what he has shown in practice.

Agree that he definitely had a difficult spring. Hoping it was a conditioning issue given how highly rated he was coming out of JUCO. The staff clearly expected him to come in and start immediately given his 2 years of college play albeit in JUCO. Hope he refocuses and picks it up this summer.

Oh yeah for sure he HAS to start as a JUCO or he should have to give up his scholly and go home.

The only one I can think of is Toledo in 2012.

Who the hell said that? I didn't. But it's a fact the coaches brought him in to start right away at LT. Or do you think they brought him with the understanding that he'd sit behind a 5th year walkon who's never made a scratch at UT?
