I live in Memphis and I married into a big Ole Miss family, so I stay up to date on all the news from Oxford.

Something I heard from a decently connected Ole Miss guy was that Freeze has already been hired by TN. He said they offered him the job when he met with Pruitt in Memphis and he accepted behind closed doors, but they are waiting to make it official. The reason they are waiting is because they expect the SEC/NCAA to put recruiting restrictions on Freeze once he’s officially hired. They are letting him quietly reach out to some recruits he knows personally before the announcement to try and lock up some elite committments.

The evidence he offered was the commitment from Harrison Bailey. He said Bailey and Freeze are very close and have been for a while. Most people were surprised to hear that an elite QB prospect would commit to a school with an OC vacancy, but if you assume he already knew who the OC would be, it doesn’t seem as weird.

** This could very well be BS but it’s an interesting theory if nothing else! I don’t know the guy who told me very well, but I do know he’s at least somewhat connected in Oxford. **

Well, as a fan base, we promise to keep him away from the Mouses Ear, and if finds it necessary to be there for a meeting, we will have a committee assigned to travel with him... that is the best we can do. Now make it rain up in here!

Definitely sounds like BS. Especially once the Bailey comment is included. Sounds like someone is amateurishly trying to play off the meaningless picture of the 2 (Freeze & Bailey) from years ago circulating around. Bailey set his commitment date a while back and TN was always in it and had a quicker route to playing time.

And we are to believe we are being so shady as to get a guy that hasn't been involved in recruiting in a couple years and get him to go recruit guys AHEAD of him having restrictions? That sounds like a mess waiting to happen. Pruitt isn't stupid.

Maybe, just maybe, we are vetting many candidates. It's not like Freeze is that far ahead of other possible candidates.

He’s pretty far ahead of the other candidates...

Sounds good, let's just start it out on the right foot by having a potential coaching candidate go out and recruit for us which is in fact a NCAA infraction. I am sure the NCAA would be lenient on us and all. smh

I mean, he does have a history of recruiting violations so it shouldn’t be hard to believe.

My thoughts were the same because Bailey commit came out of the blue unexpectedly. That's why I suspect it is Freeze. I don't get the Lindsey interview though. Some kind of mask? UT is attempting to make a huge impact on the recruiting trail and I think they have been keeping D.Wright commit quite and he'll announce next week. Pruitt just wants to capitalize on the momentum and this is an ingenious way to go about it. Being a Vol fan though I'm actually terrified by things going the right way.
Also there is talk that Bailey can graduate HS early similar to the way Bentley did at USCe or UT could get Kelly Bryant.

If I were Freeze and was offered the OC job, I'd run like the wind in the other direction. Look around the threads and posts at VN. Holy cow, I've never seen such a frothing, over the top fan base. What are some of you people going to do if in a couple of days Pruitt makes the announcement that he's promoting Friend--have another Schiano Sunday? We're hiring an OC, just like Burch Jones did three times. I wouldn't mind it being Freeze, but who ever it is, I'm sure it will be fine. Like they say, it's more about the Jimmys and Joes.
