Another Freeze Rumor

Just so I’m clear, you are saying Pruitt/Freeze are already committing NCAA infractions before he’s even hired knowing that if Freeze is hired, the NCAA will watch his every move? Seems legit

Means the program is heading in the right direction now!

If we are not cheating, we are not trying!

Yeah, well. It is just a verbal. So lying to a ‘20 recruit would not be a good way to have him trust you and officially sign with you in 12 months.
I never said it was smart. I simply stated it was not a violation.

I live in Memphis and I married into a big Ole Miss family, so I stay up to date on all the news from Oxford.

Something I heard from a decently connected Ole Miss guy was that Freeze has already been hired by TN. He said they offered him the job when he met with Pruitt in Memphis and he accepted behind closed doors, but they are waiting to make it official. The reason they are waiting is because they expect the SEC/NCAA to put recruiting restrictions on Freeze once he’s officially hired. They are letting him quietly reach out to some recruits he knows personally before the announcement to try and lock up some elite committments.

The evidence he offered was the commitment from Harrison Bailey. He said Bailey and Freeze are very close and have been for a while. Most people were surprised to hear that an elite QB prospect would commit to a school with an OC vacancy, but if you assume he already knew who the OC would be, it doesn’t seem as weird.

** This could very well be BS but it’s an interesting theory if nothing else! I don’t know the guy who told me very well, but I do know he’s at least somewhat connected in Oxford. **
I like...sounds feasible!

UT's offer should have had a time stamp on it... in or out! Seems like Sexton may be trolling around thinking he has UT in the bag.

I hope you do not mind that I wait until UT announces it before I believe this story.

Wouldn’t those restrictions have been made known and applied by the NCAA in their original action against Freeze? More penalties on the back end after time served? I’m not sure this sounds right, but nothing the NCAA does surprises me.

We’re going to end up with a high school coach nobody has heard of, fire him in a year or two and make him a millionaire for sucking. That’s the Tennessee way.

Do a lot of VN’ers not know when to step away from emotional, unreasonable, kid like statements around here?
