Another Freeze Rumor

Sounds good, let's just start it out on the right foot by having a potential coaching candidate go out and recruit for us which is in fact a NCAA infraction. I am sure the NCAA would be lenient on us and all. smh
Bailey repeatedly mentioned the name Pruitt like he'd been directed to steer clear of mentioning anyone else.

If I were Freeze and was offered the OC job, I'd run like the wind in the other direction. Look around the threads and posts at VN. Holy cow, I've never seen such a frothing, over the top fan base.

I don't know how fanatical the other fanbases are about this level of detail because I don't spend hours on other teams' message boards about stuff like this. We're just going to have to take your word for it that no one else is like this.

But I'd like to think that if I was offered/making millions of bucks a year, I wouldn't be sitting around in my boxers at 2 in the morning checking out rumor threads. And I certainly wouldn't let it keep me from making a few more million bucks a year, especially if I was unemployed.

But you do you.

Ole Miss fans are exactly like this on their message boards... Shea Patterson’s dad went on Rebel Nation after he got hurt and had a total meltdown about the fan base. The next day, he announced that he was transferring...

All fan bases are like ours. Georgia fans went psycho on Kirby after 1 loss calling for his job. It happens everywhere. We just notice it more because we see it constantly from our fans. Florida fans have pretty much been off the reservation ever since Urban left.

Hmm.. not sure about our newest QB commit because of Freeze. He already had multiple SEC offers, including Bama while Pruitt was there. Also, it was believed to have come down to TN and Michigan. Guess who is up in Michigan who is best buds with Pruitt? McElwain..but if the kid committed for a coach then here you go:
There is really no connections with Charles Kelly (who was TN primary recruiter) with any of the OC candidates... but Dan Enos was recruiting him for Bama. Dave Werner was at Ole Miss (Freeze) recruiting him but is now at South Carolina QB coach w/ McClendon.
There is definitely room for strictly a QB coach to come on board. If there is a loophole.. then it's Dave Werner.

What are some of you people going to do if in a couple of days Pruitt makes the announcement that he's promoting Friend--have another Schiano Sunday? We're hiring an OC, just like Burch Jones did three times. I wouldn't mind it being Freeze, but who ever it is, I'm sure it will be fine. Like they say, it's more about the Jimmys and Joes.
I remember the conniption people had when Mike Debord was hired. He ended up running a very good offense here

Get out of here with logical thinking.. :) Sometimes I think people just want to be upset about something

Agreed. Always the worst when you are on the inside looking out. I was reading the Cane's board yesterday. They were talking about how Pruitt is on the right path and will have us a legitimate program in three years. I come to our boards and everything is falling apart. All perspective.

It’s not an infraction for Pruitt to float inside knowledge of who he’s hiring tho...doesn’t require Freeze’s direct involvement.

I live in Memphis and I married into a big Ole Miss family, so I stay up to date on all the news from Oxford.

Something I heard from a decently connected Ole Miss guy was that Freeze has already been hired by TN. He said they offered him the job when he met with Pruitt in Memphis and he accepted behind closed doors, but they are waiting to make it official. The reason they are waiting is because they expect the SEC/NCAA to put recruiting restrictions on Freeze once he’s officially hired. They are letting him quietly reach out to some recruits he knows personally before the announcement to try and lock up some elite committments.

The evidence he offered was the commitment from Harrison Bailey. He said Bailey and Freeze are very close and have been for a while. Most people were surprised to hear that an elite QB prospect would commit to a school with an OC vacancy, but if you assume he already knew who the OC would be, it doesn’t seem as weird.

** This could very well be BS but it’s an interesting theory if nothing else! I don’t know the guy who told me very well, but I do know he’s at least somewhat connected in Oxford. **

I call BS. Freeze nearly lost his support job at Ole Miss for talking to recruits before he was officially hired after he delivered Oher to them...

True or not, that logic makes me feel better than I felt when I left Vol Nation last night!
