Money has everything to do with everything. It is definitely the root of all evil. However, you have alot of self righteous people on this board who like Mccain has a difference of opinion, but they want to focus on other issues outside of the main topic.

Don't act all offended at my reaction to this statement when it was your grammar that led to my misunderstanding. After reading it again I see the mistake I made but not because I chose to pick and choose what I read, it was because your use of wording and sentence structure led me to that conclusion.

And about the "WHITE" statement you threw out there.....Is there something wrong with being white? Did I for one minute imply that being white was better or superior? Maybe it is you that has a problem with racism my friend!

You've missed a lot then. There is repeated discussion of the economy and why many here believe that BO's plans are dead wrong. Don't trust us? Take a look at the post with all the economists against his economic plan.

I'll challenge you. It's not the governments function in the least to save anyone's home, anyone's pension, banks or businesses.

They are stepping into this fray because the mess is partly of their own making and our financial system is of vital strategic interest to our country.

Individuals taking stupid loans or failing to pay for homes is not a government issue and should under no circumstances see the government interfere. Ditto pensions, banks and businesses.

The government's function is not to save people from their own stupidity nor impede their greatness. It is to provide basic infrastructure and governance. Those nations where the gov't is the backstop for individuals reside across the oceans from here. Join them if you please.

Well first all, ignorance is expensive. I agree that alot of people who didn't read the terms of their loans are at fault. However, the loan officer, company, entity did a poor job of making alot of homebuyers aware of the conditions of thier loan. Those comapnies really didn't care to educate the homebuyers for the sake of fattening thier own pockets. When I was in the insurance industry years ago, I made sure that policyowners knew the benefits and features of thier policy. I educated my clients on the differences of term vs whole life vs variable life. As an agent at the time I felt it was in my best interest to make sure that they were completely aware. Of course, alot of people that jumped on the subprime mortgage bandwagon didn't read the conditions of the loan. However, moral fault lies with the mortgage companies who didn't ensure that their clients were not fully aware. The Government seemed to have no choice but to step in , because there were so many people losing there homes. So, are you guys saying to hell with these ignorant people, let them suffer ?

The other day a guy robbed a bank because he was about to lose his home. Now this is another person that I have to pay taxes for in the prison system. I think I would rather pinched in a little one time and helped him keep his home. Now God knows how much time he will get and he has to have clothes, food, and a bed while imprisoned. Now ,here will be more taxes to come if this keeps up !

Yes, pretty much.

There is a difference between stupidity and bad luck. Help those who end of helping themselves. Most of this goes towards those who do not. This crowd who over extended themselves trying to buy homes were stupid. It was a mistake and one they should own. If I had done it, I would not accept anyone's help to get out of my own mess.
