Source confirmed that Coach K is in TBA right now. The deal would include changing The Summitt to Coach K Court. In all seriousness, if Grant was on campus, Bama should hand him his walking papers......now.

Assuming he is a realistic candidate, I for one am all for Anthony Grant. He could have very well been the SEC COY this year, he recruited the majority of the players that VCU puts on the court, and his team hustle and play hard for him. To me, basketball is not the same as football when it comes to coaching. In football, I would never support hiring a coach from Bama or Florida, because football is what Tennessee fans take the most pride in. In basketball, if you have a chance to get a guy that has respect from the players, can recruit, and can flat out coach, you have to make an effort to get him, no matter where his previous coaching stops have been.

Brad Stevens would be my pick out of them all, but I think he is looking for a palce with a better Basketball history. That being said, I would be happy with Grant.

we are not going to pay close to what it would take to get Stevens or Grant. think much lower level. UNLESS, someone on the hill wakes up and begins to think

I wanted Grant.. after that I'll just see what the new guy does and pull for him to succeed. Its a crap shot at best on anyone else..

stevens would have been a grand slam but he is too much and not interested. Grant is getable but we jsut won't go that high. Most other names are too costly.. Richmond guy sounds front runner rigth now since we are down there tonight watching..

So you're saying UT is completely refusing to pay the basketball coach more than Dooley? Why upgrade the facilities and everything if they're just going to act like Doug Dickey with the hire?

our people seem to think they can get another up and comer in the 1.25 to 1.5 M range. that thinking will limit us tremendously. the "big money" boosters are still smarting over how all this went down and how it was handled. Cheek knows his legacy is on the line here. Hammy is not driving this bus anymore. We could definitely pull someone more established, but we would have to break 2M to do it.
