I've quit trying to determine how UT assesses budgets and hiring practices. Guess they haven't put together the salary structures at Bama and Florida to go along with the championships own. (DOnovan + Meyer = 7 million which is 4 National Championships)

I simply don't understand why you would argue with hat given the fact that he has been dead on when it comes to these topics of UT and Pearl. He is right about Barbee. He is already involved in some sort of mess. Not sure on the details maybe hat knows.

I agree, He likes a neutral site. Even then it would be after Grants agent and search firm had worked out the prelimary details.

I have said this from the beginning - UT will not pay a basketball coach more than a football coach ever.

This will limit who is a real candidate.

Most of the candidates the media are talking about should be legit candidates, but not with the budget constraints in place.

Pearl had more tenure. I was referring to an incoming basketball coach making more than Dooley now. It won't happen.

If Pearl had stayed at UT, I would imagine he could have made more than Dooley for a while, but Dooley would have overtaken him shortly.

It is hard to compare a sport that brings in revenue $55 million plus to a sport that loses money - roughly $1 million a year.

I think that Hamilton has probably lost his job through this process and if Cheek is unwilling to pay to make a solid hire I think it may cost him his as well.

Well that pretty much ruins my night. Means it has to be Mooney or Marshall I would guess. If this admin is going cheap I will be beyond angry. How can they not realize all that rides on this hire? So I assume the report of calling Dixon is inaccurate, he would have to command 2 mil to consider UT, am I right?

Just go back and think about all the hires Tn has made in BB and Tn has always went the cheapest route and got lucky when Pearl turned the program around and it made MH look like he knew what he was doing.
The only things the fans will be saying with the next hire is wth was Cheeks and MH thinking. But MH will tell everybody Tn got the man they went after.

Now don't get too excited but I know I saw Ray Mears going into Cheeks office. Just as Elvis came out.
