Antonio Barton is coming to UT

Here's an interesting stat:

Joe Jackson's career a:to is 1:1
Antonio Barton's career a:to is 1.3:1

So Barton actually has a better a:to throughout his career than Jackson.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
His A:to is misleading because he's played more at the 2 than the 1 lately, thus fewer assists.
Just looking at TOs:
Jackson turns it over once every 11.5 minutes
Golden once every 15.4
Barton once every 20.6.
He'll have more assists playing point and his A:TO will probably be better than JJ or golden this coming season.

From NCAA and ESPN data (same totals):

Jackson
413 to 300 = 1.38%

Barton
142 to 109 = 1.30%

My apologies, that's what I get for early morning math.

Point clearly remains though...Jackson and Barton a:to over a 3 year career is almost identical, I found that interesting considering how Barton's a:to is talked about on here.

I have a feeling from watching Memphis play, and hearing some things their fans have said, that Pastner's system isn't really a heavy assist system. That's the reason you don't see Jackson with real high assist numbers, and a not so impressive a:to ratio.

I agree with you, I think Barton's assist will definitely go up, and he will probably average over 4 assists per game. I also expect his a:to in the area of 2:1 or better.

Memphis was 5th in the nation in assists per game last season.

You are correct. I worded my post poorly, but I was more referring to PG. Memphis wings did a nice job distributing, which obviously contributed to that ranking. Jackson averaged 4.8 last year which was by far his career highest, but you'd think with the taken around that number would be higher.

All my point was, was that Barton will average more than the 2 assists a game he averaged in big minutes at Memphis. If you disagree that's fine, but I expect him to average 4+APG.

No he isn't. You're just looking for a reason to shoot down optimistic posts, as usual.

Are you kidding me? Looking for a reason....My heart bleeds tennessee orange and I live and die with our teams.... I just agreed with another person that some not all of our fans were overhyping AB.....the pickup was huge and a great get by ZO.

Who cares what Joe Jackson or Jabbo Spain have as a career a:to ratio because they are not playing for Tennessee. I agree with you and love the fact he shoots 42% from behind the arch. I would love to have all 13 scollies and both walk ons to shoot 42% behind the arch.
