Correct me if I'm wrong. Here's an interesting stat:
Joe Jackson's career a:to is 1:1
Antonio Barton's career a:to is 1.3:1
So Barton actually has a better a:to throughout his career than Jackson.
From NCAA and ESPN data (same totals):
Jackson
413 to 300 = 1.38%
Barton
142 to 109 = 1.30%
Correct me if I'm wrong.
His A:to is misleading because he's played more at the 2 than the 1 lately, thus fewer assists.
Just looking at TOs:
Jackson turns it over once every 11.5 minutes
Golden once every 15.4
Barton once every 20.6.
He'll have more assists playing point and his A:TO will probably be better than JJ or golden this coming season.
I have a feeling from watching Memphis play, and hearing some things their fans have said, that Pastner's system isn't really a heavy assist system. That's the reason you don't see Jackson with real high assist numbers, and a not so impressive a:to ratio.
I agree with you, I think Barton's assist will definitely go up, and he will probably average over 4 assists per game. I also expect his a:to in the area of 2:1 or better.
Got a source?
Was trying to get this off Teamrankings and they didn't have 12-13 stats up yet.
Memphis was 5th in the nation in assists per game last season.
No he isn't. You're just looking for a reason to shoot down optimistic posts, as usual.
