Any lawnmower experts out there?

If it runs well and is relatively maintained, F it and buy it. Keep the oil changed and the air clean and it should take care of you just fine.

I would quiz him as to any issues though, maybe you can test it for a few hours and see if anything funky happens. With most of those motors you've got a boat anchor if anything internal is shot.

Look for smoke, any oil leaks on the motor that might've been washed off, etc, which is why I'd run it for a bit before signing off on it.

Good luck.

Thanks man I appreciate it

I had a Troybilt with a 18 5 HP 42"cut that lasted me about 10 years. Thanks to TP advise when I upgraded I bought a Husqvarna with 46"cut. The Husqvarna has a smoother cut than the Troybilt ever had.

I'm not going to look at the Troy bilt. If I'm going to spend 750 might as well spend a little more and get something that's not junk. I really don't need that nice of a mower for what I've got to do, but I'm not going to buy something that's just gonna piss me off. Still looking. Thinking 15.5 HP motor isn't for me

Look for a Husqvarna dealer, at this time you might get a deal, of course I live in a snow region so clearing room for snowblowers might not be an issue there.

Also look into the toro timemaster 30", if you're reasonably capable of walking it would rip through a flat half acre with no problem without the maintenance level required of a tractor.
