Some DB coaches teach them to play through the WR's hands. So that might be why he isn't looking back. I think he had 2 PBU's using that technique today. It's game 1, so I'm not concerned about that yet. Now Milton struggling on passes over 10 yards will hopefully get cleaned up. Very rarely is everyone on in game 1. My biggest concern was the 3rd downs we struggled to convert and some phases of the Special Teams. A couple bad punts, a punt return fumble and a few kickoffs that went put of bounds. But again, it's game 1 and our punter and kickoff specialists were playing in their first game. Like I've heard on a few YouTube videos and podcasts, the secondary guys like Hadden still don't look back to find the ball. That's DB 101. Does Martinez not teach not? But overall, a really good 1st game against a power 5 school. The offense was pretty vanilla and didn't have to show much.
Dylan Sampson should be getting more #2 reps behind Wright. He doesn't dance around or trip over grass like Small does sometimes. Sampson is going to be a beast in this offense.
And I don’t think that’s a pessimistic or negative take away. It just means the bar for Milton is really, really high. To contend for the East we literally have to be one of the best teams in the country. Until we start dominating in the trenches, we need great-to-elite QB play to reach our goals. He can do it, but I wouldn’t say today was great and certainly not elite.Yes. Milton is gonna have to play better if we are to be a serious contender for the East.
We should be worried. We are a very different team from last year. The D has picked up a bit and the O has fell off. The net effect is not something we can gauge after one game, but I think it's fairly obvious that we're not going to be scoring 60 points on too many teams this year. We are going to be a 30 to 40 Point team even against the non Elite teams.
Wat? He had a 67% completion rate 2 through the air, 2 in the ground, no ints. I can count on one hand how many bad passes he had.And I don’t think that’s a pessimistic or negative take away. This is silly. We scored 49 points and had a drop from keyton that would have made it 56.We should be worried. We are a very different team from last year. I’m familiar with the stats. He got away with one today that should have been an interception and I only recall one downfield pass that was on target. The throwing windows against Georgia will be much tighter and we’ll probably be forced to throw more against them because they’ll likely stuff the run.Wat? There's hot takes but the one that Milton didn't play well today is a braindead one.
Fla. looked terrible against Utah, but I am sure they will bring their best when we play them.I think some reservation of judgement is warranted, if only because of how bad Virginia might be. They were a 3 win team in 10 games last year before their season was cut short. I don't think we will really know how good we are until we face FL.
Ok. So you identified the one of maybe 4 bad passes with the near int...in week one.I’m familiar with the stats. He should just use both feet at the same time. Problem solvedI'm worried about our Special Teams especially our Punter. What was that????? The announcer was saying he kicks with both feet. If you have two sub 30 yd punts...do me a big favor? Use the foot that kicks 45+ yd punts.
I remember Shane Victorino was a switch hitter...he hit .297 from the left and .196 from the right...no Shane you are a left handed hitter...a broken clock is right 2x a day
Vanilla today. Only a couple of deep balls. Won by 36 and we didn’t play great. This team is dangerous if that defense plays like that all season!About the passing game? Were the receivers not getting open or was it the play calling ? I know Keaton was wide open and dropped a sure TD. We won’t be able to run like this in every game so the passing game has got to improve.
Like I said, the bar for Milton is very high when discussing what it will take for us to win the East. Of course I’m nitpicking. And like I said, he can do it.Ok. So you identified the one of maybe 4 bad passes with the near int...in week one.
And there were only 2 down field passes both of them perfect. Keyton dropped one.
You are what the layman calls nitpicking. It is week 1 and you're expecting us to be in late season form. Joe went out there and took care of business. No one will be perfect my guy.
Great he was 21 of 30 2 TDs and we won by 36 and all you can do is complain?I’m familiar with the stats. If the defense sits back in a zone to stop our passing game I think we can run on anybody. Defensive coordinators will have to pick their poison.About the passing game?
