Any one else concerned

About the passing game? Were the receivers not getting open or was it the play calling ? I know Keaton was wide open and dropped a sure TD. We won’t be able to run like this in every game so the passing game has got to improve.
We had almost 500 yards total offense and scored 49 points. Should have been close to 600 yards and 56 points save an inexcusable drop from a Wide open Keyton. The next series all three wide receivers that Milton missed were WIDE OPEN. Milton calmed down and was back on target. 70% completion rate and over 200 yards. First game jitters and if we improve from game 1 to game 2 Las much as normal, we will score 200 against AP next week. Is it really so hard to enjoy victories? At least for the day of the victory?

A lot of people hit the nail on the head here, Milton isn’t really a concern yet. He played pretty well actually imo. Had some drops, probably didn’t really bring out the playbook.

Punting was a concern. That has to get fixed or it will bite us in the ass.

I would hope the coaches let him practice making softer passes in practice and saving his " cannon " arm for downfield. And he missed a couple wide open receivers but overall , he seemed to handle the job ok. I think Hooker spoiled many fans last year with his ability to hit receivers all over the field but especially going deep.
I saw Peyton miss some wide open receivers and hell I even saw Hooker miss a few, matter of fact he missed some in his first game last year. We have a lot of spoiled brats as fans!!!

Milton looked good to me. Every QB ever has a few overthrows, I see Aaron Rodgers have 3 or 4 bad throws a week. Milton had maybe two today that were high/long and one really short. If RK doesn't flat out drop that TD bomb Milton's stat line us 22-30-265ish 3tds, in a game where the back up played the whole 4th quarter. Milton made great decisions, never put the ball in harms way, and did everything he needed to do in a blowout win.

People are all in a frenzy to point at the scoreboard, but I get what you are saying. Joe still tends to hold onto the ball and gets going too fast at times. We made it a little hard on ourselves in the first half.

Va chose to cover & protect against the big play. Frankly, I suspect most teams to do that this yr.

We won. We covered, and hit the over. Offense had some hiccups there in the first half, but Joe’s deep
Shot was on the money and should have been another TD. There were some high passes as well, but he looked comfortable, running game was doing it all so didn’t really need to do anything fancy.

OL made me feel a bit better. Yes, it was UVA, but opened some huge holes, protected our QB well and I did not see a lot to really make me overly concerned after G1. Lane did well at center

Again, was also UVA, but the defense looked very improved after G1 and only had the one bad drive that ended in a TD. Thought the DL and front seven lived in their backfield all day. Seems the DBs also had mostly pretty tight coverage.

Overall, better than I was expecting for G1. I did not think we would cover a 4 TD spread.

I’ll take it and be happy with it.

Much better to have some struggles and win than just cruise. Gives them items to work on in practice.

He only truly missed four throws all game. I think he will be just fine
Edit. You’ve also been crying about his downfield passing game. Guess what man he missed two throws that were above 10 yards. All the others were either dropped or dimes that were just out of bounds

Lol. Crying or commenting on reality?

He did look better on his deep throws today.

I hope he has an amazing season. He seems like a really good guy and definitely a team guy. But he struggles with accuracy.
When we play teams that can slow down or even shut down the run he’s gonna have to be better

We should be worried. We are a very different team from last year. The D has picked up a bit and the O has fell off. The net effect is not something we can gauge after one game, but I think it's fairly obvious that we're not going to be scoring 60 points on too many teams this year. We are going to be a 30 to 40 Point team even against the non Elite teams.

Our offense goes as the run game goes. Last year against UGA we couldn't get anything going on the ground. Hooker also missed 3 long TD passes that were basically wide open.

UVA did us a favor. They helped us work on Joe's biggest weakness. Short passes and touch passes. That and getting practice in the run game.

I'm not worried at all.

Honestly, while I'm not sold on Milton yet, I don't think there's a lot to complain or worry about with today's performance. He had a couple of throws that weren't great, but if Keyton makes that catch it's gonna make the stats look a lot better. Plus, this game wasn't anything more than a scrimmage. We were working on foundational things while staying very vanilla. We can go into the UF game without showing much of anything of our real offense. And lest we forget, UT didn't come out of the gates last season like a ball of fire either. Lot's of angst then as well. We played a lot of youngsters, got some really good looks at our OL and hopefully came out with no serious injuries. This team is bigger, stronger, faster and most importantly, deeper. Even being very vanilla on offense and defense, we still beat the spread. Got nothing to complain about outside of Keyton's drop, the fumble and our punting. Good start to the season. Gonna savor every single win this year. I think we're headed for 8-4. Anything better than that is a really good season.

I agree. I was impressed by our run game today and that typically opens up the passing game. Wonder why it didn’t today against a weak team?
Hooker was on a whole other level last year. GA likely had the best defense in college football and that game was on the road.
Not much comparison to todays game

We didn't take many shots downfield in the 2nd half. Not much reason to when your avg 10 yards a carry. Plus no reason to open up the playbook if you don't have to

Game 1 we won 49-13 remember 4 years ago Georgia State, we play ball for 2 and half quarters and win 49-13, not there it but with the 24 class coming we will be kicking azz for years to come, enjoy the ride we will be elite.

Completely agree.
Great point about how we looked against Pitt last year. Based on that game we did not look like a team that was going to beat Florida, lsu, and Bama.
Hooker played at an incredible level last year. I don’t see that this year at this point

That definitely makes evaluating the offense a little hard right now. We weren’t exactly having to dig deep into the playbook.

It's game 1, Bud. Relax.
Yup, go back and Watch the opener against Pitt last year. First game means very Little timing and rhythmic the passing game. There was little resemblance between where we started the year vs what we became. We will know after Florida though
