Any Vols Coming out to California for the Cal Game?

Yup, because Tennessee is the same as UCLA. I could post 986986 videos from September 2nd, 2006 that would remind you of what happened.
you must remember it. The game where Jackson's heisman hopes (granted they were little more than typical media fodder) imploded.

Here's some very quick, easy, rough analysis:

Cal's front 7 from 2006 garnered little to no pressure on Erik Ainge in last season's meeting. Of those front 7 players, the best 3 have departed. Droski mentions that Cal's defensive weakness will be the DL.

Thus, when playing Tennessee, if you are unable to get pressure on Erik Ainge, the offense, regardless of how good your secondary is, and really, regardless of how inexperienced the WR crew will be, you will be eaten up. Erik Ainge's worst games were the few where he had no time to make reads.

Our offensive line loses it's best player and a player who was really mediocre. I think with the losses along Cal's DL and UT's OL, the scenario in the trenches when UT has the ball will remain the same as 2006. No pressure on Ainge.

our dline got zero pressure on pretty much everyone last season. it can't get worse. Our best 2 of the front seven departed (not best 3). I think ainge will have time unless we blitz. Was the victory ainge picking us apart or your WRs running over us? I'd lean towards the latter. Our offense will be vastly improved. Baring longshore throwing 4 ints, the game will be much closer.

lynch was the only one getting heisman pub preseason. jackson got 07 Heisman pub midseason because he broke the pac-10 single season punt return for td record (tied the NCAA record).

I bet she would be smoking if she put a lil make up on. That being said the whole no makeup natural look might work for some. Me personally a little makeup maybe do something with the hair, then she's a 7.

I actually was just saying that she knew what she was talking about. She was ok, but I don't really care that it was a female. She knew what she was saying.

she was a yell leader at Cal. Cool chick. Her dad will kick your ass if you hit on her though. Bit of a daddy's little girl complex.

Yeah she was well read on the subject of "Cal getting No Respect". Well more so that our friend CalBears. All I'm saying is I'd hang out in her tree house if she invited me over.

In your front 7, you lost Bishop at LB, Mebane and Tafisi, yes?

Your defense blitzed quite a bit against Tennessee, and it didn't work. Also, only 1 *passing* TD was our WR breaking a tackle. The 2nd one to Meachem was the only one where Meachem had the ball and broke out of SQT's tackle.

Our first TD was our long drive with the TD pass to Brown who barely made it to the goal line (12 yard pass, I believe).

Our second TD, Thompson went for the DP, but didn't arrive in time and once Meachem had the ball, he was untouched.

Swain's TD was a deep seam, untouched.

That reminds me of something, Zona. Didn't Hardesty go the distance """""untouched?""""......? Ok. Maybe he didn't. Maybe atleast 1 or 2 Cal players touched him.:peace2:

I realize this article I discovered the other day is sure to generate a lot of controversy and outrage on this board, but I felt you should see how some view the SEC. Please, do not kill the messenger, I am merely posting the article.

SEC ARROGANCE DOMINATES COLLEGE FOOTBALL

Outside the South, Fans are fed up!

Heaven forbid any question the supremacy of the SEC. To do so you open yourself up to numerous vicious attacks from the vanguard of the SEC. Recent developments though (aside from Florida stealing the National Championship from Boise State) point to a different reality. The SEC is weak, and their ability to dominate on the decline.

Last year there were numerous examples of the SEC not being able to compete with other major conferences. Chiefly among them was the thrashing Arkansas received from USC. While Cal did go into Tennessee and lose, they kept it respectable, 35-18. Many in the college football world outside the south speculate that had Tennessee not stolen many of Cal’s signals, Cal would have prevailed.

Perhaps we cannot blame out southern brethren. For from the time of birth they are brought up to believe they are a cut above all other conferences. Again, numerous examples have shown without any doubt, this is not true.

Said one frustrated USC fan, “any time you turn on the TV all you hear is how great the SEC is, and how they dominate the college football world. I guess wining several National Championships slipped by their collective conscience.”

It remains to be seen if this traditionally viewed stereotype can be broken. One thing is sure, Cal plays Tennessee on Sept 1 to open the season for both schools. With early indications pointing to a Cal victory, this perception of SEC dominance may soon come to an end.

Gee that’s funny. It seems as though every time I turn on my TV I'm getting Big10, PAC10 and ACC propaganda shoved down my throat. ESPN/ABC seems to cater to fans from those conferences. If it weren't for "good ole CBS" we would all be converted Big10 fans until 7:00 pm eastern.

The accusation of stealing signals in a nonconferece football game is laughable. What signals were those? "The deer caught in the headlight" signals from Longshore or the "I got tackled in the backfield again" signal from Lynch and Forsett.

No I think it was "Meachem just ran by me again" signal
or maybe it was the "Hardesty is down" signal or maybe it was "Leave Swain open up the hash" signal

Hi, and Go Bears! I'm working on a "welcome the Vols" shirt, and would appreciate your feedback. I've narrowed it down to 2 designs. The first says "This ain't Rocky Top," and has a picture of the banjo guy from Deliverance wearing a Vols shirt, with an "x" through it. The second shirt says, in large letters, ‘‘You can’t spell Citrus without UT", with "Steve Spurrier" below it. It then lists the many times UT has been relegated to the Tier 3 Citrus Bowl. What do you guys think?

GO VOLS!!!!!

Note to those outside the south who are whining about having to hear the SEC is the best conference: Poll the Buckeyes football team as to what their opinion is of the SEC now...

Amen to that brother. Did you guys see the you tube video of Albert the gator on the OSU campus. Man was that funny.

that is the funniest thing i have ever heard. cal kept it respectable??? 35-0 in the third quarter is complete domination. we physically dominated cal in every aspect of the game.

CalBears,

I am a SEC fan and more specifically a UT fan. I live in Missouri and have lived in Illinois and Washington state.

Here are some observations.
-SEC fans are more realistic even though not always realistic than Pac10 fans.
-In most years over the past 20 or so, the Big 10 has been the strongest from top to bottom.
-The SEC was the best conference this past year and it wasn't very close.
-With the coaching and talent of the SEC now, it should be dominant for the next several years.
-No other conference has had the amount of recruiting success top to bottom that the SEC has had for the last several years.
-No other conference even begins to compare coaching wise from top to bottom.
-USC is a quality program that need not bow to anyone... however take them out and the Pac10 is comparably weaker than every other BCS conference right now. The traditional programs like UW, UCLA, and maybe even Arizona are down.
-Cal is much better than they used to be. They are well coached. However, they do not have the athleticism and depth of talent that UT has. They've reached a plateau and one signature win won't get them over it. You're going to have to start beating teams like UT and USC consistently if you want the respect you think you deserve right now.
-UT's victory over Cal last year could have easily been worse. Fulmer called off the dogs and started subbing in the 3rd qtr and stopped blitzing. The long TD you had was against a 3 deep (almost prevent) defense that was being played too soft.
-USC hammered Arkansas but they left their starters in until late to run up the score. Arkansas didn't have McFadden who proved himself to be one of the best RB's in the country.

BTW, until they choked, I heard alot more on TV about USC than UF or the SEC's dominance.

Ah come on! How was I supposed to know that when I didn't read the date on it! Damn, I guess I am an f-ing idiot!
