Any Vols Coming out to California for the Cal Game?

If last year is the only thing of relevance, I'd shut my piehole and let this go away as fast as possible.

it's the only thing relavant when discussing the history of the two programs and how that might be predictive of next years score. Thankfully the game on Sept 1st won't be decided on tradition and history.

Unfortunately for you, the only real determinant that falls in your favor is home field.

That was kind of my point. Either you base it on a comparison of the overall history of the two programs, you base it on the most recent head to head encounter, or you base it on things like strength of schedule or recent recruiting successes.

However, our left coast friend doesn't wish to recognize any of these facts. So then, what criteria are we to use?

I hope you are refering to the trolls and not myself.

As for recruiting, somewhere in this thread is buried my recruiting analysis the last 4 years and it clearly shows the gap in recruiting (particurally on a per star basis) between Cal and Tenn isn't what most vol fans think it is.

Strength of schedule is in the eye of the beholder. By most analysis I have seen cal has ranked in the top 10 strength of schedule virtually every season. It should be noted that pac-10 schools play 9 conference games compared to 8 for SEC schools which affects this ranking. If you go by the theory that any team outside of the SEC doesn't play anyone worth anything than obviously than there is no reason to have the strength of schedule conversation.

I think that recent success of the program is FAR more relavant than the history or tradition of the two programs. Frankly history or tradition don't win football games, players and coaches do.

We certainly didn't play any quality nonconference opponents last year.
