Any Vols Coming out to California for the Cal Game?

absolutely, but i don't troll around other message boards telling people how much higher my IQ is in an attempt to show how much I support my team.

Ok fine, I am an idiot, ok? That was really between Droski and myself. He said I was an idiot, I disagreed. I will admit I need to stop acting smarter than everyone else. After all, I am really the stupidest person in here.

By the way, my buddy Blake is in Bristol working on the race. He lives here in Cali but works all over the country for a filming company. Anyone near Bristol or Johnson City in here?

No one huh? I hear Johnson City is ok, has some strip clubs and stuff. Bristol I hear is pretty small, but still interesting for us Californians...

I'm within 20 miles right now. I permanently reside in Memphis, however. Which is about as far from Bristol as you can get in Tennessee.

So Bristol is a small little town, yet it is one of the most famous venues for Nascar, how neat. My friend was telling me that despite the fact the races do not start until Sunday, there are already thousands and thousands of people there in their motor homes and even camping out. He said it is pretty cold back there. (Though cold for him could be anything, he lives in LA) How interesting. For some reason when I think of Tennessee, I think it is always hot. Shows how stupid I am. God I wish I could be there! COME ON TONY STEWART!

Tennessee gets the full effect of all four seasons. It has been a little chilly, but it was in the 60s today.

I live about 45 minutes from Bristol in Greeneville. Never been to a race though. I don't even watch much of it on TV. I just check in every now and then to see how my man, DALE JR, is doing.

alot of people are from the tri-cities on this board. I hate "nascar". I hate living in Kingsport during it. We are in the mountains so it gets in the 30s to 40s at night and with a good wind it can chill the bones.

There are several 1000 campers there now. It looks like a sea of rv's when you drive by. People rent out their lawns to rvr's. Its quite amazing

I just want my team to win. Is that so wrong? Don't you want your team to win?

STOP! You know you don't "just want your team to win." You're spouting off that Cal will WHOOP Tennessee, when you have absolutely no reason to think that. Take a page from Droski - he thinks Cal will beat Tennessee, he's confident, but he doesn't push our buttons by proclaiming that somehow Cal will kill Tennessee.

I will, btw, be in California for the game this Fall. My group of friends usually make one road trip for a game, and this year it will be Cal. Any ideas where we should stay? San Fran?

U guys need to get out more.

i hate nascar lol
Never watched one race or know many that have. Funny thing is how the LBS site was dissin' on us for knowing everything about fat chicks and Nascar. Most of us don't follow that stuff remotely. It's an export like country music, moon pies, coca-cola, et.al. (anything to make a buck)

berkeley is a good college town, but if you are planning on comming out for more than the weekend I suggest staying in SF. Bart makes it very easy to get to and from the game. You wont want to drive, particurally since tailgating at Cal is pretty sucky and they ticket on gamedays.

Droski, How hard is it to access that bluff over the stadium. That looks like a once in a lifetime, unique experience.

you mean tightwad hill? you can get there any day of the week. Just walk up the stadium road and hike up the hill (only 5 minutes of hiking really until you can see the field). I have a couple of buddies that go up there and watch Cal practices every day. As for your game if you want any prayer of seeing the actual game get there at least 2 hours early. bring a chair. it's not the most comfortable way to watch a game. also make sure you don't sit near the cannon, or you might get your ears blown out. A couple of pics:

these guys will tell you anything you want to know: http://www.tightwadhill.cjb.net/

is it free to watch the game form that hill?

yup and BYOB is encouraged. But since most of the places where you can see the whole field are on steep inclines it's not exactly the most comfortable place to watch a football game. personally i would rather pay the $50 to see the game in the actual stadium.

You can probably get a ticket in the blue or gold zone for much less. The Tenn game may be a bit more expensive though. How often do we get to see one of the greatest college football teams come to town? Not often enough...

Actually, because of you, Seth, I have decided to stay, eat, and spend in Berkeley, then tell anyone I can find that the treesitters are right.

make sure to wear any SC or stanfurd gear you have as well. just trying to make sure you make a good impression VIA!
