Any Vols Coming out to California for the Cal Game?

You do realize we have two 5 star recievers coming in the summer... Both have been timed at sub 4.3 forties on numerous occasions. You'll also really like Gerald Jones and Eric Berry when they come in for their special spread packages.

I'm aware, but can you really think of a single 5 star receiver who has dominated in his first ever Div 1A game? I can't. Even Jarrett at SC took 3 or 4 games. Meechem took what 2 years? Our 5 star guys are juniors and seniors. Don't tell me that isn't a huge advantage. edit: and with ainge out all of spring camp, it's hard to imagine the offense clicking the first game.

O'Neil is a 5-star Junior College player that spent a year at FSU. He is actually from your area. We are really counting on him. We also have Gerald Jones, who seems pretty confident he will see p/t at WR, great athlete, won state in basketball. Brent Vinson went to prep school, can fly. And the guys we have will only get better. Robert Meachem was previously coached by Pat Washington, who current Steeler and former Vol Cedrick Wilson called incapable in an interview with SI. Our new WR coach Trooper Taylor has already worked wonders before, so I expect him to at least have a few of the guys we already have ready and capable for '07. Ainge has performed. Here on The Hill, our players actually stay in Knoxville for the summer to get ready. Ainge will be throwing to all the receivers that are on campus for the summer sessions (which includes true freshmen). They will get their timing down. As for your WR advantage, I'll go ahead and give you that, but Longshore straight up blows, and he will be destroyed. The game is in his hands, and he will not get it done. Maybe his sit in the pocket for 10 seconds bull crap works in the Pathetic 10, but in the south we have DE's that fly. You know this, remember last year's game?

Cal was 3rd in the nation in sacks allowed last year and that was with an inexperienced line. You had what 2 sacks last year? Longshore didn't look great in HIS FIRST EVER start. I'll give you that. He was a monster most of the rest of season. He was injured against SC and UA and played accordingly. If you expect the same QB you saw last year you will be very very disapointed.

and btw: hawkins had an offer from tenn out of high school. Jackson turned down LSU, SC, and Oklahoma to come to cal.

He would be on the sidelines at all of those schools.

there isn't a school in the country that wouldn't be starting jackson. Not only does he hold the single season record for punts returned for TDs but he also averages 18 yards per reception. wake up people, there are some quality players outside the SEC.

hmmm looks like desean turned down tenn too. Guess you guys wanted him so he would ride the bench like LSU and SC did. :eek:k:

DeSean Jackson - Football Recruiting

I'm not gonna lie, I would love to have DeSean Jackson, who wouldn't? But I was just gonna point out something... He was considering UT, but he only got offers from, Cal, ASU, LSU, USC, and OU. Not a bad group either.

This is typical, droski. Arguing that you have one player who could play at schools where they actually play football is very similar to your typical argument about being tied against great teams 12 seconds into the game. Nobody cares. Win some games that matter and you'll have a debate.

:) ok, i don't have a rivals membership so I didn't see that he officially got an offer. looking at your commits that year he would have been your best WR of the class by a mile.

and as for the "why didn't he or your other WRs do anything against us" question that will come soon i'm sure. . . Cal's wide receivers we running free most of the first half (I saw this clearly from my nosebleed seats). Nate just didn't see them.

I was soley reponding to the "jackson wouldn't see the field at LSU, SC, etc" comment. Or the "cal is SC's whipping boy" comment. Make some accurate slams on cal and I wont disagree.
