Any Vols Coming out to California for the Cal Game?

You have obviously never met any of our coeds.

I’m strangely intrigued by your comment. Southern women are supposed to be pretty hot from what I hear. Still, if they have one fifth the attitude of their male counterparts it probably wouldn’t work out so great.

Maybe we can get our AD’s to schedule another Cal trip to Tenn in 2010?

O yeah, I forgot, a new gym wins championships. Slipped my mind, thanks for reminding us.

You would really be surprised dude. A gym really helps with that non-important thing called recruiting. Then again we don’t have Peyton Manning to donate a million bucks to put toward that nice gym you guys have. Plus we have radical hippies and tree huggers who hate football. They want Berkeley to drop football.

Scout sucks for football recruiting. Everyone knows that. Rivals.com lists you as 22. I'll count this out for you. That is 19 spots below UTK. But I guess you are used to being under us.

The school might as well drop the football program there. It hasn't done anything since 1937.

Yeah, it is a total waste of money for you guys out there. Talk to the AD about dropping it and putting you guys out of misery for the first of Sept.

Alright, droski, I'm only doing this once. I don't expect you to "get it" or want to "get it."

Final scores are permanent records of achievement. In fact, final scores = Ws and Ls which are the SOLE measuring stick of ACHIEVEMENT.

However, final scores don't always accurately record the performance. Performance in college football is best measured by total yards and first downs. See, last season Tennessee outgained their SEC foes by almost 50 yards yet achieved little - what happened in 2006? We improved a ton!

See, as I've said a million times on this board - people think they know more than they do about sports. Or, put more nicely - eyes lie. In my experience, only a handful out of 100 people can truly evaluate performance by watching the games. I know a few on this board, for instance.

Also, while I haven't bought into this next point yet, I think it may have some value: Let's say Cal averages 350 yards of offense per game and allows 290 per game. Then, let's say Arizona averages 300 yards per game of offense and allows 300. If Cal gains 320 and allows 310, Arizona was outperformed on the pure number, but outperformed what Cal usually does. That sounds murky, thus I haven't bought into it.

In the end, you'll argue about achievement vs. performance, total yards/FDs, and more things. But before you do, remember that I spend more time on these theories than anyone you may have ever met.

I don't agree with everyone who is slamming Cal as a worthless program. I don't think that at all. Cal had some really really rough years. Tedford has done a fantastic job getting them where they are. Would Fulmer have done that in 5 seasons after a 1-10 season? I don't know.

While Cal is not on the level Tennessee, Florida, LSU, etc are, they are still a good program that is growing. They just haven't done enough warrant a Bammer-esque attitude.
