We beat The "U" 35-7 in the 1985 Sugar Bowl...they wore all the army gear and got it handed to them. They didn't give us a shot in the dark to beat them.
Not only did we beat them, but my friend Chris White intercepted Vinnie.........That was sweet. Chris and I are still very good friends today. Brings back memories.
Does anybody think that this UT coaching staff is doing things similar to what Jimmy Johnson was doing at Miami? When they said that "Coach Johnson told us just to go out and win, and he'd take care of everything else." ?
Kiffin never went 7-5 at UT. But yeah, clearly taking over a 5-7 team is the same as taking over a program one of college football's greatest architects built.
Clearly this 30 in 30 documentary about Miami is proof positive Tennessee will compete for the national title next season....all because Kiffin is brash like the 80s Hurricane teams.
It's hilarious. "This place sucks. Let's kick their ass and get out of here." I hope our guys are soon thinking the same thing when they travel in the SEC.

If Tennessee wins their bowl game, they finish 8-5. Want to guess what Jimmy Johnson's record in 1984, his first season at Miami, was? If you're going to talk history, it helps to actually know it. Posted via VolNation Mobile
