Anyone else think we win our last 6 games?

For a team that's currently sitting at 7th place in the conference, that's going to be a tough row to hoe. But, I'm not sure these guys even want to make the tournament. I get the impression they don't like playing for Cuonzo, so maybe they're trying to insure they don't have to after this season.

We're in 5th place

What will be completely sick is to win the next 4 and then lose the last two to put us out, or have to make a deep run in SECT.

Winning the last six is inconsequential at this point. Apathy has reached its tipping point, and the majority of fans have made up their mind that nothing Martin can do will satisfy them. The die has been cast for him. He will not be successful enough.

I would put money on UT winning 2 then losing 1 and then winning 2 and losing the last game of the season. I don't know who they will being playing but this seems to be the trend of this team. UT will need to make the SEC championship game to make the tournament.

Not successful enough. Just successful. All UT fans want is to make the tourney. He has never done that, and it's not looking good this year. He is not a good recruiter, his in game decisions are questionable, and he has the personality of a brick wall. How or why you still support him is a hard one to figure out.

No. I'm afraid we may see the team quit and go 3-3 as some other poster predicted. It makes me sad for Stokes.

I'm not sure that's accurate.

If it is you're telling me if he makes the dance this year and gets knocked out first round many people will be willing to give him more time?

Don't you? Do you see UTAD stepping up and saying enough is enough? I will be pleasantly surprised if they do

IMO if Hart retains him, he's doing so because he truly thinks that Martin can get it done. I've done the numbers for you before, keeping Martin is gonna cost a hell of a lot more than the $800k you spend by firing him this year instead of next.

If you think I support Cuonzo Martin, then you haven't been paying attention. And if you view my post as some ringing endorsement for him, well, I can't help you.

Let me spell it out for you...

His team's Jekyll and Hyde performance this season has soured the fanbase so badly (and rightfully so), that they demand change, irrespective of anything he could do from this point forward. Minds have been made up, and there is no turning back. Apathy is what it takes to foster change, and fan apathy has set in. Change WILL occur, be it in 2014 or 2015. If Martin can't coach this group of talent to a comfortable NCAA berth, then it's doubtful he can coach up a group of less-talented players to one.

How you view that as my undying support for all things CCM is beyond me.

You are in the minority. For the overwhelming percentage of our fans, it's Bruce or no one. For too many, they have already decided that Pearl is the only coach who can succeed here. They gave Cuonzo a chance, if even begrudgingly, and he has disappointed them.

I see what your saying and don't disagree with you. However, for a school not known for being a basketball school(minus the era of a couple of coaches) making the tourney should be a reasonable accomplishment. IMO

But like I took you alluding to, BP is the X factor in folks expectations.

And regarding your statement about it being Bruce or no one, his shadow is going to be a huge deterrent for any desirable coach anyway. So we are almost dam&ed if we do and dam&ed if we don't. Unless we make another gamble hire like we did on CCM.

For me personally, no. He hasn't done anything to make me think he can get the job done. This team should be better than barely making the tourney. IMO

Making the tourney is a reasonable accomplishment. But the perfect storm of circumstances is going to drown that accomplishment (assuming it is reached). Here's why...

-Unrealistic preseason expectations of an Elite Eight run by some fans...yes, they existed.
-Backing into the tournament with talent that should be playing for seeding purposes at this point.
-Missing the tournament in his first two seasons (justifiable or not) following Pearl's string of 6 appearances.
-Coming up on the end of Pearl's sentence having not met expectations.

Martin could have silenced a lot of his doubters by finding himself at 20-5 right now vs 15-10, and playing for their lives. Backing into the tourney as a bubble team (in a best case scenario at this point) wasn't how fans envisioned this year finishing out.

Many would have demanded Pearl regardless because it's what they know and anything else is outside their comfort zone.

just lose so we can move on. Don't care who it is. Not him. The sooner he goes. The less time it will take for us to win again. The longer he stays, the more we will lose.

Perfect storm is right on. And we don't even have George Clooney to try and get us out. :)
