The undeniable truth is we are playing this year as have we for several years,,,with a 40-60 mix of P5 players and "upper echelon non-P5 players" ... To keep up with the front-runners, both nationally and in the SEC,,,and to actually BE a front-runner, we need to be able to go to the bench and put in P5 caliber athletes/skilled players to go 8-9 deep before we get to non-P5 level players...And right now, just as in the past few years,,,this just ain't happenin'
And more importantly we have to have someone in the coaching mix who is not in awe of ANY ONE of those players. A person in the mix who can take the best of them,,,and still not only make them better,,but inspire them to want to continue to grow.
This is the factor that has taken Dalton Knecht to the level he is hitting...As good as he is, he still shoots 5000 shots a week,,,in preparation for maybe 25-30 shots in a game. That is the level of dedication it takes. MJ, Larry, Magic,,,they all did this. Larry shot over 90% foulshots and still ended his daily routine with 200 foul shots
