I feel bad for the kid. Just watched Tobias play and couldn't even find Scotty's name on ESPN. Updates?

wow....not sure what to think about this. doesn't seem to be on his level. Guy deserves to be playing in D League or Summer League in my opinion.

When you think you are the ****, and you aren't, NBA guys won't respect you. That's why he's not being looked at.

It's why a guy like Cam Tatum got an NBA workout and Scotty Hopson didn't.

None of this is terribly surprising if we are honest about it. He only wanted to play offense and then only his way. No D, no real hustle on D, no rebounds, no assists, etc.

Add in a suspect handle.

This is the top league in Israel. Dan Grunfeld, Ernie's kid, plays in the league. Carlos Arroyo spent at least one year in that league. Guys with journeyman or borderline NBA experience have pass through there. Jordan Farmar (UCLA & the Lakers) is one example. John Scheyer (Duke) spent a year there before moving up to a league in Spain. There are worse places to play and Scottie can keep hope alive if he works hard. Tidbit: Non Israeli roster spots are limited on each team, but non Israeli Jews count as if they are Israeli, leaving the limited spots for non Jews.

Hopson makes good money. Not NBA money but he won't starve or anything.

Absolutely. He's a guy that had all the tools but couldn't put it all together. Only feel sad for him because he never realized his potential and didn't make his ultimate goal of the NBA as of yet. However if I could play ball and get paid good money I probably would. The kid is living at least part of his dream. Gotta feel happy for him in some ways.

He would take a pay cut playing in the D league I believe.

Indeed. He's good enough to stay in the good European leagues. Former UT players should all get together and cut down some nets in another country :)

(C) - Brian Williams / Major Wingate
(PF) - Wayne Chism / Ron Slay
(SF) - Scotty Hopson / Tyler Smith
(SG) - Chris Lofton / JaJuan Smith
(PG) - Ramar Smith / Bobby Maze

Deep Bench
- Scooter McFadgon
- Stanley Asumnu

?? Any other NBA D or overseas guys? Looks like a baller team!!!!

I thought Maze did win a championship in some league last year. And won MVP.

I thought he was playing in Turkey or somewhere. It's hard to keep up with these guys.

Just imagine if he played every game like he d's against Pitt. I never understood him and figured the lights would finally turn on for him one day.

I believe he is the only player in the top 10 of his class that didn't make it to the NBA.

Scotty would.have gotten an NBA work out if he had wanted one but he chose like Chism did to go straight over seas to start getting paid.
